Gregg and Bad Faith Republicans

by: Dean Barker

Sat Aug 22, 2009 at 21:47:56 PM EDT

It's important to keep in mind, as Judd Gregg goes into the fourth and long of his effort to kill health insurance reform, that his word is not bond.

There is no point to bipartisanship in legislation sought by the president from a man who in September 2006 said...

"It [phased withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq] is a policy that is firmly grounded in Birkenstocks and clearly not grounded in the reality of the world as it is,"
... and then in December 2006, after his party got a drubbing at the polls, in major part due to Iraq policy, wrote:
"There is no question but that we need to figure out a way to extricate ourselves from Iraq in a reasonable way that doesn't undermine our commitment to trying to make that country independent, free and oriented toward the market economy,
Gregg and Grassley and the rest of them have no interest in changing the status quo on health care. And as our senior senator's bi-polar remarks on Iraq remind us, there is no point even trying to get them on board.

The American people handed Democrats a mandate when they elected an overwhelmingly Democratic House, Senate, and President.  It's time they listened to that mandate instead of trying to placate bad faith actors like Judd Gregg.

Pass it on... (4.00 / 1)
That is the consensus. Let it ring loudly in the hallowed halls for all to hear as they act on the mandate from the people.

Very well put, Dean.  Thank you for posting this.

Great minds and all, but I'm for adding a little levity. (0.00 / 0)
So, I'm working up a little post on the goofballs.

Been thinkin' on it since yesterday.
