From the "Politics Is Show Biz For Ugly People" File

by: Peter Sullivan

Thu Sep 17, 2009 at 10:38:19 AM EDT

Looks like I'm taking that literally, since I'm making my television debut on WMUR's close-up this weekend. I'll be joining Grant Bosse to discuss the Manchester mayor's race, health care reform, and the US Senate race, among other matters.

I kind of like the fact that I'll be on with Grant. Since we both ran wonky but comically underfunded congressional races in recent years, we share something in common. Should be a fun discussion!

You are entering a new career: pundit

...from a-far.  You be good now, you hear?

you might ask him if he still stands by his statement about the number of folks at the 9/12 march on Washington:

Capital Police have estimated the crowd at 1.5 million already

which he revised to
Estimates now topping 2 million

or has he come back to reality?

Oh dear. (4.00 / 2)
But leaving that aside for the moment, Grant is actually one of the very few "new" NHGOP people I could imagine finding common ground with if he and I were legislators locked over some bill. Not through some pretend comity, but through wrestling over concessions to get to our sine qua nons.

He and I have a policy divide a mile wide, on fundamental issues, but at least he typically brings facts to the table.  Seems so rare these days.

I know he is as committed to the defeat of my team as I am to his, and will press any advantage, as I would, but I respect and even at times admire the new role he's taken on.

Are you kidding? (4.00 / 1)
Facts? How do you define "facts"?

Ask Grant about the fake mail and committees he created in 2000 n/t (0.00 / 0)

Funny addendum. (0.00 / 0)
I happened to find a little post in the WSJ about activists from Florida thinking, as they entered D.C. after a seventeen hour bus ride, that the tents on the Mall were for them and then discovering that it was for the Black Family Reunion that was being held.
So, someone reading that pointed out that there was also a race of some kind with 2700 registered runners taking place down one side of the Mall and that, no doubt, swelled the attendance with all their hangers on.
Guess that's why the teabaggers couldn't get a permit for the Mall.  The place was all booked up.
