Dear Facebook Governor Sarah Palin

by: Dean Barker

Sun Nov 01, 2009 at 07:14:00 AM EST

Dear Facebook Governor Sarah Palin,

I admit it: I am impressed with your work in New York.

Now, Iowa may not have any money to give you to come speak to them.  And frankly, we in the First-in-the-Nation Primary State don't have any either.

But we do have something that could endear you to the 21st century New Hampshire Republican (psst - you know - the folks who could actually catapult you into a genuine presidential contender).

We've got a Republican candidate for Senate named Ovide Lamontagne and one for Congress named Jennifer Horn. They share your values.

Unfortunately, the NRSC/NRCC party functionaries from afar in DC have decided that they would rather have Republican candidates that either hail from the 20th century (Charlie Bass), or else poll-driven ones who want to be all things to all people (Kelly Ayotte).

Facebook Governor Palin, you could do a world of good in this state by shaking off DC influence and giving New Hampshire Republicans a fairer chance to choose nominees that better reflect where their values are in 2009.  And at the same time, you would be giving them a reason to consider you for the 2012 Primary.

This is a win-win.  And in full disclosure: yes, I am not a Republican.  But more than anything I like truth in advertising, and the clarifying work you have done in New York is badly needed over here.  It would be better for both Republicans and Democrats, and for New Hampshire voters in general, to know where everyone stands.

Respectfully,

me

Republican endorses Democrat (4.00 / 1)
Somewhere I read today that the local Repubican Party officials are fit to be tied at the outside influence of money andendorsements that forced the Republican candidate out. In other words, it was a little bit the opposite of Washington picking the candidate; the locals picked the Republican nominee, and Sarah Palin and company didn't like it. Outside interference gone wild.

In any event, the Repubican has now endorsed the Democrat. Film at 11.

No film, but (4.00 / 1)
Steve Singiser has a good, recent analysis.

It seems Doug Hoffman is a sore winner, and his lack of civility may have helped his Democratic opponent, Bill Owens:

That might explain why a large number of Scozzafava supporters, from the head of the state's Independence Party to several voices within organized labor, immediately turned to the Democrat Owens rather than her fellow Republican, Hoffman. This morning, one of the more prominent newspapers in the district, The Watertown Daily Times, followed suit, switching its endorsement from Scozzafava to Owens.
