Time: NH-Senate a Race That Has "Republicans Worried"

by: Dean Barker

Sat Nov 07, 2009 at 06:00:21 AM EST

Brutal meme for Craig Benson protege Kelly Ayotte coming from Time, especially in the wake of the NY-23 and its NRSC/Club for Growth fallout:
Ten Races That Have Republicans Worried for 2010

Vulnerable Republicans
Kelly Ayotte (New Hampshire)

Though they haven't officially endorsed her, the NRSC and Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell have helped raise money for former attorney general Kelly Ayotte, who resigned to run for the seat being vacated by retiring Senator Judd Gregg. The move by national GOP figures prompted angry editorials in New Hampshire: "Butt out!" said the Union Leader. Ayotte is facing at least four primary challengers...

I think this serves as a useful reminder that, even though our state has gone blue and all, this is bona fide pickup opportunity for our side.  Gregg, mostly through electoral good fortune, has had a vice grip on this seat for far too long.  He's no Olympia Snowe, and neither is Kelly AYotte.

Its a process .... (0.00 / 0)
The Republicans are in crisis nationwide, and they are about to have their own "cleansing" - their own ideological divides, the last gasp of the past, the new grasp of the neo-icons, and it will not be pretty for them.  Kelly looks more and more like a Deer on a foggy night on a state highway staring at headlights coming from both directions. But since she judicially weighed the consequences, she is in and I don't envy her position.  A tough spot for an unexperienced officer of the court now a neo-politician.

I think it's fair to say that 21st century Republicans are in a constant (0.00 / 0)
state of worriment.  Considering their inability to come to terms with reality, who can blame them?  If your behavior is based on misperceptions and unsubstantiated preconceived notions, then just surviving can be a risky proposition and the best course may well be to do nothing.

There's no question that Bush/Cheney were fear-mongers, but I'm beginning to think that they were genuinely fearful.  And cowardly, to boot.

About the only thing that irritated me about Shea-Porter's campaign speeches was her regular reference to being "worried."  But, I realize now that resonated with Republicans in need of someone to comfort them in their worry.

The conservative base has been abandoned.  Flailing Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh can't be reassuring.

Teabaggers v. GOP (0.00 / 0)
Who will Sarah Palin endorse?  Who will be crowned the "real" conservative? When will Grover Norquist speak? Who will Rush and Beck anoint as the "true conservative" in this race?

This should be quite an interesting season.

Sarah's endorsement worked out so well (0.00 / 0)
in NY 23, that we should hope she endorses (Benson protege) Ayotte.

I love that you chose the Queen's English (4.00 / 2)
in this phrase,

Gregg, mostly through electoral good fortune, has had a vice grip on this seat for far too long.

although I think the American definition of "vice" may be the more accurate description.

Somebody oughta apply the ol' vise grips to his seat, if you ask me...

We like it, too. (0.00 / 0)
You know, the royal 'we'.

Here's an interesting web site for those interested in who's hiring (0.00 / 0)
foreign workers to come into New Hampshire.  Binnie's Carlisle Capital Corp needed a few from England and France.

Didn't know we needed to import so many people from Canada.
