Facebook Governor Sarah Palin

by: Dean Barker

Mon Nov 09, 2009 at 20:55:47 PM EST

Has it ever occurred to the traditional media, and various linkbaity elements of New Media, as they breathlessly report every missive about death panels from her Facebook page, that Sarah Palin, once a heartbeat away from a Republican presidency, has no more real power than you or I?

The internet is a great democratizer; but it works both ways.

Palin quit the job the voters of Alaska entrusted to her so she could spend her time updating her Facebook status.  How pathetic is that?

And even if Sarah Palin arguably had some real power ... (0.00 / 0)
... she threw it away when she endorsed Doug Hoffman (C) in NY-23.  As RightPundit.com noted at the time of her endorsement (October 23rd):
Sarah Palin's endorsement of Doug Hoffman will surely be a test for her; a test to see if her name carries as much weight as I and a lot of others thinks it does. Backing Hoffman means going against the Republican establishment. But it also means standing for Conservative principles; the one thing lacking in the GOP right now.

And as SarahPalinInformation.com noted on October 27th:

The mark of a true leader is that people actually want to follow them. Sarah Palin is that sort of leader... The mark of a true leader though is the ability to risk it all when the situation calls for it. To go "all in" if that's what is called for. This is just what Sarah has done with the Congressional race in New York's 23rd district ... [which]  has become a national race, and a referendum on not only Barack Obama, but the direction of the GOP ...

The only conclusion from the Right's own analysis is that Sarah Palin failed the test of her political influence and lost the referendum on her leadership.

Nice work if you can get it (4.00 / 1)

of 'spending more time with my family'

"America... just a nation of two hundred million used car salesmen with all the money we need to buy guns and no qualms about killing anybody else in the world who tries to make us uncomfortable." -Hunter S. Thompson, a while ago

although that may be giving her too much credit (0.00 / 0)
Do we have any evidence she's able to use a computer, let alone update Facebook.  After all, this is the same woman who thinks she can see Alaska from her house.

Here's the thing, (0.00 / 0)
If you're Sarah Palin, why not, instead of posting on Facebook, blog on your own website and get ad revenue for your PAC and/or yourself?

Sarah Palin is a figurehead, one of those maidens decorating the (0.00 / 0)
prow of a ship or the mascot of a football team.  She's a figment of her own imagination.
Republicans have reduced politics to a spectator sport whose participants are supposed to amuse.  FOX is the political network much as ESPN is for football and racing, etc.

If you can't keep the public out of an enterprise, then rendering their participation virtual and vicarious is the next best thing.  The object is to insure that the people remain powerless to actually influence events.

amazing how much press an out of work housewife can get.  Maybe if she had spent more time with her family her underaged daughter would not of gotten pregnant by the son of a meth dealer.
