(Still time contribute to Cheshire Dems Inauguration Anniversary Celebration. Looking forward to seeing Hamsters and Candidates tonight in Keene. - promoted by Mike Hoefer)
During election cycles Cheshire County voters elect the highest percentage of Democrats of any county in New Hampshire. To keep that distinction, the Democratic Committee organizes events, conducts Get Out The Vote canvasses, and provides logistical support to Democratic candidates. Our political community spends time and money to ensure voters are exposed to Democratic candidates and their message.
Fundraising and politics go hand in hand. Local political organizations raise money in many different ways. One of the ways that we, the Cheshire Democrats, had raised money through the years was by inviting candidates, representatives and famous political families to an annual cocktail party followed by a spaghetti dinner. The cocktail party tickets were more expensive and the attendees had more meaningful access to the special guests.
Change was the theme last election cycle. This year we are changing, we are going to host an Inaugural Anniversary Celebration in Keene to honor our local political community and all of their hard work. It is also our kick-off of the 2010 election cycle. The celebration will be a smaller event with a limit of 100 people. Everyone will have equal access to candidates and representatives. The cost will be $25 per person including appetizers and one drink, $15 if you're 18-22 years old.
So, how do we host an event, provide food, drink and meaningful access to candidates for $25 or $15? We have been asking friends, relatives, candidates and other organizations to donate what they can to subsidize the tickets.
Now we're asking you, the BlueHampshire community to help us meet our goals of raising money and selling tickets for less. There will be a "Thank You" board at the event to acknowledge the donors (unless you wish to remain anonymous).
Please join us at the Inaugural Anniversary Celebration and support our efforts by donating what you can to our subsidy. Thank you and we hope to see you on January 23rd!
