Open Thread: Pelosi v. Boehner

by: Dean Barker

Tue Jan 19, 2010 at 05:42:24 AM EST

A moment of great clarity about what public service means to Republicans and Democrats in 2010.

House Minority Leader John Boehner:

I've contributed to Scott Brown, I want him to win, I think he can win - but beyond that, the American people need to stay engaged in this process because this bill is nowhere close to being finished. There are a number of unresolved issues, a lot of fights amongst Democrats, and we can continue to put pressure on them - we can exploit those differences - and bring this bill down."
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi:
She went on to say that Brown has said he want to go back to the drawing board on health care. Not in my House, Madame Speaker said.

"There is no back to the drawing board," Pelosi said. "The Republicans in Congress have said we will kill health care reform. They are the handmaidens of the insurance company."

"Let's remove all doubt, we will have health care -- one way or another," Pelosi said. "Back to the drawing board means a great big zero for the American people."

This is an Open Thread.

Exploitation and deprivation is what Republicans (4.00 / 1)
are about.  There is nothing new about this.  Ever since the arrival of universal suffrage, they have become the faction of exloitation.

Thank you, John Boehner, for stating it so bluntly.  Exploiting the public and extracting our natural resources for private gain is the name of their game.  It's the predator model, rather than the pattern of mutual support through trade and exchange.

Btw, Joan Venocchi is calling out Brown and his supporters for using bullying to suppress the vote.

I presumed that a Brown win (0.00 / 0)
would start off every Mr. Dippety-Do's Lesson of Absolute Truth about the race, but I didn't think it would happen before the votes were counted.

The lesson, according to Bayh, is that the Democrats have pushed their agenda too far to the left and have, in the process alienated independent voters.

"It's why moderates and independents even in a state as Democratic as Massachusetts just aren't buying our message," Bayh told ABC. "They just don't believe the answers we are currently proposing are solving their problems."

Mr. Bayh, the scales have fallen from my eyes!  If only we were more like you, none of this would ever have happened!

that's the same message (0.00 / 0)
Lieberman is spouting. Where, exactly, is the part of the agenda that has moved to the left, and how did I miss it?

So long as Evan Bayh is out (0.00 / 0)
for the greater glory of Evan Bayh, there will always be something too left for his inerrant wisdom.
