The one he grew up in, not the one he helped create:
John Boehner grew up in an America ruled by FDR's Democratic majority. I grew up in an America ruled by Ronald Reagan's Republican majority. The America he grew up is already "snuffed out." I doubt he will ever realize that it was people like him who did the snuffing.
That's the end of this scathing, sad, and all too accurate diary. I really wish I knew what John Boehner thinks the America he grew up in was like.
Something has gone very, very wrong with our discourse. I heard a story today from an acquaintance about how the plant he has been working at in NH is about to close, and the company is moving operations to Indiana. He has been asked to move out there; he is one of the lucky ones. But he recently was able to buy his first house, and got the $8000 tax credit. It took a while to get it, he was annoyed that the government didn't work as fast as it should, but they did pay him interest.
He needs to move to Indiana, because the chance of getting a job here is pretty small, but he doesn't want to sell his house, because if he doesn't keep it 2 years, I think that is the timeframe, he will have to give back the tax credit "to Obama," a phrase said in a tone of contempt. I just wonder where he learned to speak of his government and his president that way? I suspect I could guess.
He learned to speak that way from John Boehner and his ilk. He thinks the people who have made this mess are his friends, and the people trying to fix it are the bad guys. It's all over the TV and the radio, everyone knows it, and I have no idea how we are going to give them a chance to learn that they are being told a very, very tall tale.
Read the diary on Daily Kos, it's worth being reminded what the promise of this country was and how much has been stolen from us.
