"Every building that isn't weatherized costs us wasted heating and cooling costs. Every home and business that is forced to rely on dial-up Internet simply can't compete in today's economy.

These are projects that can't be outsourced to China, and they should employ well-trained, well-paid New Hampshire workers." - Ann McLane Kuster

Unfortunately (0.00 / 0)
this would involve making decisions based on facts, not sound bites.
I keep wondering how much worse conditions could get if we let the Rs have their way.
I read about Russia burning, the peat bogs releasing all their carbon dioxide and methane, the ice melting in the Arctic and on land in Greenland, and I think of my grandsons and what they will face because of these liars, and I try not to cry.

Solutions not sound bites.  Thank you, Annie.

What we need to realize is that we are in a struggle (0.00 / 0)
for popular government -- i.e. government by the people, not government by people we like to tell us what to do.
The primary tool in that struggle is our currency and the control of that currency is currently in the hands of the private corporation known as the Federal Reserve Bank, to whom is reserved the management of our money and the right to determine how and by whom it is spent.
Of course, an economy can run without money.  But, since the earliest days of civilization, it has been obvious to men on all continents that it doesn't run well without some symbol that represents past and future obligations.
Why we let the private sector control the symbols of our transactions and interactions is a puzzlement.  Perhaps it's just habit.

Aerogels (0.00 / 0)
Anybody else heard of aerogels?  They're translucent substances that might someday be used to create windows with the same insulation value as exterior walls.  The technology has been around for decades and decades but it's extremely expensive to manufacture; most recently a Malaysian researcher found a way to manufacture aerogel from rice husks, greatly reducing the cost.

According to Popular Science, a NASA researcher said, "...you could take a two- or three-bedroom house, insulate it with aerogel, and you could heat the house with a candle. But eventually the house would become too hot."
