(Grok goes the Full Fergus with president death "jokes." I'm sure that Sununu and that Eagle publishing subsidiary blog will get right on this. - promoted by Dean Barker)
Ugh, what is with the total inability of some NH political activists to understand that joking about the deaths of prominent current, former or potential future office holders is inappropriate, in bad taste, stupid, and, frankly, creepy and weird?
The latest comes from "Skip" at Granitegrok, who in his Friday humor posting decided that it would be a big LOL to joke about Barack Obama dying in a plane crash. Well, actually, the joke is that he does not die in the plane crash, an Iowa farmer buries him, even though Obama says he is not dead, because "you know how bad that sumbitch lies".
When a couple of Democrats made stupid, inappropriate comments, I was one of the first to speak out, because what they both said was stupid and inappropriate. The Republican issued outraged press releases, such as the following:
"Mr. Halloran's outrageous comments are a new low, even by the standards of the New Hampshire Democrat Party," said NHGOP Communications Director Ryan Williams. "His publicly stated death wish for Governor Palin and her family is abhorrent, and has no place in our public discourse. Governor Lynch and Ann McLane Kuster need to immediately denounce Mr. Halloran's hateful remarks and demand that he personally apologize to the Palin family."
Okay, Ryan - where is your outrage today? Are you going to promise that neither you nor John H. Sununu will ever appear on granite grok in the future? Are you going to demand that Johnny Stephen, Kelly Ayotte, Charlie Bass and Frank Guinta denounce Skippy and demand that he personally apologize to the Obama family? And how about people like Republican state senate candidate Andy Sanborn, he of the floating address, who appeared on a grok podcast?
Because this is worse than the Palin joke. This is a joke abouit someone actually killing the President of the United States. Which Skippy finds really funny.
