Guinta to Protect Social Security for "Certain Americans"

by: Dean Barker

Mon Oct 25, 2010 at 20:07:16 PM EDT

After numerous debates, and many direct questions from both the debate panelists and Carol Shea-Porter herself, Frank Guinta finally admitted tonight that he will protect Social Security.

Because of the promise made to "certain Americans."

Too bad for you Generation X.  And you, Millenials.  And you too, five and six-year olds.

Yup, I noticed that line too. Conveniently vague.

Discussed SS with several of his supporters outside. None of them could give me a specific plan either. And they sure didn't like mine (raising the FICA cap).

You think the wealthy should pay more even though they don't get more in benefits?  Yes. Yes I do.

(And having everyone pay the same rate on all of their income is not progressive. It is flat. The current system with a cap is regressive. If you don't know what those terms mean, don't use them.  /vent)

Not "vague" at all. Conservathieves operate from the premise (0.00 / 0)
that there are special people who deserve special treatment and that, of course, the people to whom they are speaking, and who understand the code, are the special ones.  Whatever deprivation is threatened is aimed at someone else.

That's the explanation for why people of modest means keep being taken in by people whose aim is to exploit them.

That Democrats are concerned about the welfare of all Americans simply doesn't register with people who are desperate to be better than someone else.
