The Democrats Need Voters To Remember (0.00 / 0)
You've summed it up, Burt.  We need coters to remember that the Republicans not only got us into Iraq and Afghanistan, but they were also obviously plotting to bring their brand of "democracy" to other Middle Eastern countries, with discussion about taking on Syria next.

And while Democrats and President Obama could have done more in Washington these past two or four years on issues like Don't Ask Don't Tell and the "Defense" Of Marriage Act, it's the Republicans who pushed to keep gays and lesbians in the closet, under lock and key.

And Republicans are the party of Give To The Rich.  Democrats have brought us minimum wages, workplace safety, a greater level of equality been men and women in the workplace -- although we have a way to go on that -- and defending Social Security without turning money over to Wall Street.

if Democratic candidates made a strategic mistake this election cycle, it's that they didn't talk enough about OUR new ideas, OUR vision, OUR change, OUR hope.  We let the Republicans get us off-message and into a defensive mode, and it's mighty tough to say "things could be worse" or "wait, things are getting better" when people can't find work, their businesses are floundering, we're losing our homes, and we see lots of spending by Washington but our own lives seem to be sputtering along.

Unless one knows history, we're doomed to repeat it.  And the history of Republican majority rule isn't good for most of us.
