Video Proof: Frankly, Frank Isn't so Frank

Here's the link:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

(Someday I'll learn how to imbed, but not until I finish organizing my socks drawer.)

After attending three town consecutive meetings, Rep. Guinta's staff was kind enough to take a question from me. So I do give them and Representative Guinta credit for that.

But there is a lot  lacking--to put it very mildly-- in Representative  Guinta's answer.

But that's par for the course. He is truly masterful at framing his answers to fit the Tea-Party universe, and without follow up it is very hard to "get through."

Here's just one example of many:

Last night when talking about the national debt he said we had two choices. Cut Spending or Raise taxes. Then he asked for a show of hands poll of who wanted to raise their own taxes. I might add there were far more Tea Party folks than progressives.

But fifth grade math tells us that the only way to get out of the mess we are in is to do both. We have to cut spending and raise revenue. Even Allen Simpson agrees--its not like this is a secret in Washington. Oh well.

Back to this clip:  I'll follow up with the state of the FEC investigation ( which IS still alive) and how an initial house Ethics Committee stamps its approval on new members. ( hint--it isn't very rigorous)

Interesting parallel between (0.00 / 0)
the ditto heads applauding Guinta and this piece by Anne Laurie over at Balloon Juice talking about the "Gropenator".

Read the whole thing, it's short and to the point, but the overarching point is that Republicans do not care about the personal imperfections of their candidates and representatives.  He, or she, may be a horses ass, but he's our horses ass, and screw you.  People who support Guinta see the campaign finance issue as a wild conspiracy theory intended only to hurt their political gains.

Laurie links to Dave Weigel's comments on how Schwarzenegger attacked the press over reports of his infidelity and how his supporters bought it hook, line, and sinker.  Politics has become such a blood sport that, for at least one party, the lack of moral judgment on immoral office holders is breathtakingly stunning.

BTW, after reading about the FEC investigation of Ensign, don't hold your breath waiting for the Justice Dept. to come riding in to discredit Mr. Guinta.

I'm conscientiously obligated to embed this video on how to organize your sock drawer.  I hope it helps you and that you are as amused by it as I was.  The top two tips?

1) Buy big bags of socks that all match so that when you lose one, all the others still match.

2) Keep your dark socks on one side of the drawer and white ones on the other.  Brilliant!

In the immediate aftermath of Since the start of the financial crisis, the Fed/Treasury lent, spent, or guaranteed $28 $29 trillion to save the banking system.

Showed up in the preview but then got eaten by gremlins...just like my socks!

I just don't see it. We have the lowest taxes since the 1950's. New Hampshire has the third lowest per person tax burden of all the states. Though your taxes are only a couple of percent lower than they were in the 1950's, for the wealthy, theirs are some 22% lower. Many corporations pay little or no taxes. Warren Buffet pays about 16%. It would take a very modest adjustment of tax rates to balance the budget and restore all the programs the Regressives have cut. For our economy as a whole, we have three paths to a balanced budget and none of them require any cutting of government spending. 1) End the two or three wars in which we now find our selves. 2) Single payer health insurance creates surpluses as far as the eye can see. Collect the taxes from the corporations that currently pay none and tax the $1.9 trillion in cash they are sitting on and not creating jobs.

Why is it that cutting spending is even mentioned?  That is more of the Obama plan of preemptive surrender. They aren't going to  give and inch. They have already had their mile. Screw em with the truth instead of giving up.

Guinta's response to you was so clearly deceptive I wrote about it:

You are right on all counts of course.

There is another wrinkle that doesn't seem to get much if any consideration.

If indeed Frank Guinta had all that money in the bank he must have paid Fed income tax on the interest. ( unless....)

All the FEC has to do is check his tax records. Even for a typically bare bones agency this would be a cinch. Of course with subpoena power it wouldn't be hard to investigate this matter period.

Conservatives are self-centered people who don't recognize (0.00 / 0)
that they have any social obligations.
Their attitude towards affirmative action is indicative. From their perspective, benign neglect is more than adequate for dealing with people in whom they have no interest to begin with. That they should make a conscious effort to explore and consider other people's talents is beyond their comprehension. Never mind that they're opposed to affirmative anything and action is not they're forte either. It makes no difference who's supposed to benefit. Affirmative action is, like planned parenthood, not something conservatives (essentially passive people) can relate to. They don't act and they don't plan.
"what will be will be" But, if they had their druthers, there'd be no change. No choice, either.
