NH GOP Chair Jack Kimball: Troop Deaths in Vain if Obama Is Reelected

by: JimC

Mon Jun 20, 2011 at 09:36:21 AM EDT

(Not sure Chairman Kimball understands what we are fighting for. - promoted by Mike Hoefer)

From Think Progress.

http://thinkprogress.org/polit...

(The audio is not great.)

KIMBALL: Ladies and gentlemen, I'm looking at what has happened. All that we treasure lost: people, the loss of life, people who are psychologically and physiologically damaged for life, the sacrifices of the families that supported then. All of this. And I wonder what we did. Look at who we put in the White House. You think about that and we realize the profound responsibility that we have this time. In my view, if we reelect this man, all that all of the people fought and died for is completely in vain.

A stunning statement. What will other Republicans say? I'd especially like to hear from those who called us "traitors" in 2002.

I'm not calling Kimball anything. But I think he said something really stupid.

I assume that this statement will pale in comparison to making fun of David Patreus's name, right? (4.00 / 2)
This man should, but won't of course, resign.

I hope this quote stays around for a long time.

It's indicative of the "New" New Hampshire that the national press should take a close look at.

Keep yapping Jack!

It's embarrassing when Americans talk this way. I can only extend to them, pity. Their ignorance is profound.

When I saw Kimball's comment, I couldn't figure out what to say, because it is so of base. But you are right, it is ignorance. For me, the President stands for what is right with America -the ability to overcome prejudice, the values of middle America as impressed upon him by his Kansan grandparents, the desire to explore and seek knowledge as shown by his mother, the immigrant story of first generation American, the American melting pot, the notion that anyone can indeed grow up and become president.

Kimball's comments are just so profoundly sad.

How can it be? (4.00 / 1)
It is staggering to think, how Americans come together to serve in the armed forces, yet serve based on near polar opposites of "why" they serve.

The very thing that I served to protect, is all that Jack Kimball knows to be wrong with America.

This is, in the long term, a good thing. The tension ensures America is continually being forged into "a more perfect Union."

I wish Kimball and his ilk could grasp this notion.

As you say, sad.

How dare he..... (4.00 / 2)
How dare you Mr. Kimball.

How dare you tarnish our fallen with comparing their ultimate sacrifice with something as trivial as politics.  None of my friends laid down their lives for the next election, their laid down their lives for each other, and for a deep love of their country.

The narcism you display is sickening at best. To think that any of us who wear the uniform do so to support your radical believes is a tremendous insult to us all. We wear the uniform out of love of country, not to push some radical political agenda.

This should serve as a wake up call to all Veterans! We are not Mr. Kimball's pawns to be used and then cast aside after elections are finished.  Would he seek that every last resource is put into curing our physical and psychological scars? Or would be farm it out to the lowest bidder because we all need to be more self sufficient and learn to rely on ourselves?  After all taking care of veterans properly would require MORE government, not less.
