Ouch! Fergus Cullen nips at the Tea Party

by: Lucy Edwards

Sat Aug 13, 2011 at 06:59:09 AM EDT

I was a bit taken aback as I read Fergus' article in the UL this morning.  Wondering if phrases like this go over the heads of the Tea Party/912 group:

Some conservatives are happiest when they are angry, so Guinta sought to unite the group against common enemies. "We can do anything in the House. We have the votes in the House," Guinta assured the group. The problem occurs when legislation goes to the other side of the Capitol. "We don't have a Senate. We don't have a President who supports the values we all share."

The audience went for that bait.

Or this:

This didn't satisfy an attendee from Middleton. "It's either you or the House leadership that has to change," he proclaimed, urging Guinta to support a new Speaker to be chosen from among 22 Republicans who voted against the Boehner bill. Guinta pretended he didn't know if any of the 22 were running, and decided this wasn't a good time to mention that Speaker Boehner appeared at a recent Bedford fundraiser for Guinta. Only later did Guinta defend the Speaker, reminding the group that Boehner is considered a conservative.

I would appreciate the thoughts of those of you who have followed the "evolution" of the NH GOP for longer than I on this article.

was between a rock and a hard place on the second point.  He needs to keep Boehner's support and it just won't work trying to explain to the Teabaggers that they really aren't in control of anything.

Sure, I voted for less government and less government spending...just NOT the parts that I benefit from!

The phrases that caught my eye (4.00 / 2)
were not what Frank said, but what the author of the article said:

The audience went for that bait.

or:

Fergus appears to be implying that the 912-ers are pretty stupid and easy to fool.
