Open Thread: Passing of Great Creative Innovator

by: elwood

Sun Oct 09, 2011 at 15:08:33 PM EDT

This week we lost a great innovator who completely changed the rules and expectations of his industry.

He is perhaps best remembered for the organization he and a friend built, but his vision changed the way everyone worked in his field.

Rest in peace, Bert Jansch.

This is an open thread. (I think I'll put on Lord Franklin.)

The Smith's Johnny Marr, (0.00 / 0)
whose guitar work helped me tolerate my teenage years, counts Jansch as a huge influence.

So does Jimmy Page, whose guitar sound couldn't be more different than Marr's.

Bert was a good one .... (0.00 / 0)
.... as a solo artist, his duo with John Renbourn and of course in Pentangle .... memories. Meanwhile ...

FATHER-SON? - two St. Louis Cardinals relief pitchers: Hall of Famer Bruce Sutter - who pitched for St. Louis in the 1982 post-season ....

.... and Jason Motte - now pitching for st. Louis in this year's post-season.

"We should pay attention to that man behind the curtain."

I cannot figure out how to embed, (4.00 / 1)
but I have had The Fate of Franklin running through my head ever since I read this post.

You can listen to it here.

One of my favorites.  Thanks, elwood,
