Debt is Good.

by: hannah

Debt is good. Debt is a recognition of
obligations which, in this day and age, we register in terms of money. In a large, complex community, in which the obligations are many, it makes sense that the debts are large.

What's the alternative to debt, regardless of whether the obligations are recorded in terms of money or promissory notes? Theft. The alternative to recognizing that someone else owns something one wants to acquire or use is to take it by stealth and walk off with it, as do the ants, rats and a host of other critters we call pests.

Thievery and stealth are basic instincts and, it seems, some humans are forced to resort to them because they are incapable of either producing for themselves or persuading others to share.  False promises seem to work, but only for a limited period of time.  Currently, that time seems to have run out and the productive community has decided that enough is enough.

Perhaps that's because the notion that the producers are the thieves is just so over the top.
