Several months ago I wrote on Monticello about Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd hiring my friend and fellow blogger Matt Browner Hamlin as his campaign blogger. Since that time MBH has done an outstanding job of keeping track of the Senator's travels and his journey toward the Democratic nomination for President.
It's been fun to see someone I know hitting the Presidential campaign trail hard like Matt has done and he's been in the trenches of the frontline battle for the nomination. I wish I could tell you I know some deep internal campaign stuff but Matt's been an honorable and loyal guy for the senior Senator from CT and hasn't shared anything but some amusing anecdotes of office stuff and minor but hilarious incidents from the road warrior's life he leads these days.
Despite my personal connection to the campaign's official blogger I take my politics pretty seriously and told Matt his man would have to earn my endorsement and vote. I had my doubts about Dodd when MBH joined his team but the fact that they would make a smart hire like that, and Matt's obvious dedication to their team made me take a second look and I said so at the time.
Then I took some third and fourth looks because I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I actually found a candidate who is right on all of the issues, has a very good voting record in the Senate and is actually bold enough to take hard stands on the issues. In other words, he has earned my endorsement and I am giving him my vote.
Chris Dodd is from the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party and like my candidate that I work for Barry Welsh in the Indiana 6th District US House race, he wants to see the Constitution restored and Rule of Law reinstituted. Now just think about what I just said there. We have to restore the Constitution and Rule of Law because the Cheney Administration has so abused our system the document that governs this country is ignored.
I apologize for the shouting but this upsets me on a far greater level than most people. And it upsets Chris Dodd, which is why I am getting behind him now and will dedicate myself to making sure he becomes the eventual Democratic Party nominee and President. I hereby officially endorse Senator Chris Dodd for the Democratic Party nomination for President of the United States of America.
