John Edwards - Economic Fairness for the North Country Barnstorm

by: EVale

Tue Sep 25, 2007 at 10:02:36 AM EDT

Are you in the mood for some old fashioned Democratic politicking?  A barnstorm with some new policy and bluegrass music?

Then follow me after the jump...

EVale :: John Edwards - Economic Fairness for the North Country Barnstorm
This Thursday, September 27th, and Friday, September 28th, John will be going on a two-day 'Economic Fairness for the North Country' barnstorm to discuss his plans to help middle class and working families get truly universal health care and quality education, and build an economy that works for them.

Edwards will kick off the tour by unveiling new policy developments in his Rural Recovery Act and participating in a roundtable discussion of the challenges facing rural and working families with director Cynthia Duncan and members of the Carsey Institute at UNH.

And if you like good bluegrass music, like I do, John will be joined by Grammy Award-winning musician Ralph Stanley II, the IBMA award-winning Bluegrass Brothers, and former Democratic Congressman Ben Jones, who played "Cooter" on the Dukes of Hazzard.

This should be a great time and hope to see you there!  As always, all events are free and open to the public.  Here's the full schedule:

Bravo to John Edwards (0.00 / 0)
Eddie one request: Please post this on the calendar for the diary-impaired. Thanks.

The Carsey Institute on UNH Campus

Our own Rep.Don Brueggeman, an Edwards supporter from Concord is on the board. Carsey has the real numbers on rural economics in NH, and yes Virginia, poverty exists in the North Country. To say there is no poverty, or that all children in New Hampshire are 'above average', is belied by the numbers. Its not sexy, not given the focus on a growing Nashua, or the wonderful Seacoast, because many will not want to hear about it. They effectively change the channel.

Bravo to John Edwards. The pundits say his message is not catching fire in New Hampshire, because no one wants to identify with being 'poor'. It always somebody else's problem. This is where a real Democrat does not listen to the pundits or the polls. He listens to his inner voice, and is guided by conscience. John Edwards will not forget those who can't afford a lobbyist to push their ideas on Washington. He'll go and find out what's happening himself ! And he will stand with you.

Next time, there may be no next time.

thanks jon (0.00 / 0)
for always catching what I miss :)

Disclaimer - Don't know if I technically still need one since no longer work in NH, but am paid staffer at AFL-CIO :)

John Edwards messages are also about helping the struggling middle class - some without health care and only an illness away from poverty.

Wish we could attend the Economic forums and Bluegrass concert.  WooHoo!
