Teddy Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy Endorse OBAMA!

by: Granitdamit

Sun Jan 27, 2008 at 13:20:30 PM EST

Massachusetts Sen. Ted Kennedy endorses Barack Obama for president.

Teddy told Bill to Chill....
The real Democrat's are standing up for OBAMA!
They see the message and the chance to bring about real change.

Caroline Kennedy Endorses Obama

Former first daughter Caroline Kennedy has thrown her support behind Sen. Barack Obama, calling him the presidential candidate most capable of carrying on the legacy of her late father, John F. Kennedy.

Caroline Kennedy's endorsement is a key one for Obama, whose camp has sought to portray him as a worthy heir to the former president's "Camelot" image.

Granitdamit :: Teddy Kennedy and Caroline Kennedy Endorse OBAMA!
Reasons they didn't go with Hillary...
Who wants to put up with Scandal and embarrasment for  an election cycle when you can finally have the real deal and win the White House!

Bill has embarrassed the Party, while Hillary has had misstep after misstep with her campaign.

Hillary has pulled an Al Gore.... Meaning that she has changed at every turn.... No definite message, other than for self promotion.

    And Hillary did make #1

Ten Most Corrupt Politicians 2007
http://www.judicialwatch.org/

#1. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY): In addition to her long and sordid ethics record, Senator Hillary Clinton took a lot of heat in 2007 - and rightly so - for blocking the release her official White House records. Many suspect these records contain a treasure trove of information related to her role in a number of serious Clinton-era scandals. Moreover, in March 2007, Judicial Watch filed an ethics complaint against Senator Clinton for filing false financial disclosure forms with the U.S. Senate (again). And Hillary's top campaign contributor, Norman Hsu, was exposed as a felon and a fugitive from justice in 2007. Hsu pleaded guilt to one count of grand theft for defrauding investors as part of a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme.

For someone who professed he was going to stay neutral until the general election, my guess is that the Clinton campaign tactics over the last 3 weeks finally forced Teddy's hand.  Teddy's worried about electability and the viability of the Dem party.  You'd almost have to be ignorant not to see that the mailer, teh attacks distorting the record, Bill dismissing Obama as the "Black candidate" and Hillary's call for the MI and FL delegates to count have finally demonstrated to all that the Clinton's are win at all costs, country and party be damned.

While Teddy's persona has much about the past with it (Camelot, etc.) he has always worked toward the future, so this endorsement ultimately is not surprising.  He sees the risk to the party and the progessive agenda with the Clinton's behaving like they have.  This endorsement will make news and he will bring fundraising and organizational prowess into Super Tuesday and beyond, which Obama sure could use against the Clinton organization in the upcoming states.  It also may send a signal to other Dem senators and who have maintained neutrality because they work with both Obama and Clinton to get off the fence (my personal fav would be if my man Dodd endorsed Obama).

I Agree, (0.00 / 0)
If Dodd, Biden, Richardson, Kucinich, .... all of the ex candidates came out for Obama, the Message to Hill and Bill would be real clear.

Dodd would give Connecticut to Obama.

If we don't do it who will?
Teach a mind, change a nation!

You think Dodd would give Connecticut to Obama? (0.00 / 0)
I'm not sure Dodd was even leading the polls in Connecticut himself!

Besides, the ex-candidates can't endorse, they're all poised for administration jobs.  Richardson, VP; Biden, Sec-State; Dodd, AG/SecTreasury/etc.

I'm not sure any of these endorsers can "deliver" a state; I think the voters do it.  Surely CT is close enough to Hillary territory in NY that it might still go for her, but as Obama generated movement momentum with the voters, he can also do it with his peers in the Senate/Congress who want to make sure we're looking towards the future, not the past.  Movement momentum with elected officials would be as interesting to see as it is with voters, I think.

As for CT itself, the Dems voted for Ned Lamont in the primary, so it could as easily go for Obama as Hillary.

WaPo:

Kennedy's decision came after weeks of mounting frustration with the Clintons over their campaign tactics, particularly those with racial overtones. Kennedy expressed those frustrations directly to the campaign but was reportedly infuriated when Bill Clinton yesterday compared Obama's South Carolina victory to Jesse Jackson winning the state's much smaller caucuses in 1984 and 1988.
