Jaw, jaw, jaw is better than war, war, war.
- Noted appeaser Winston Churchill.

I can honestly say that today, George W. Bush reminded me of Winston Churchill!

This is an open thread.

Congratulations to the people in California (4.00 / 5)
who can now establish families, or wish their friends and relatives well as they do.

Sentiments that Bush equated before the Knesset this morning: (4.00 / 1)
1. "I will allow diplomats to make contact with countries we don't like, because maybe we can make ourselves more safe without putting a couple hundred thousand soldiers in danger, again."

2. "Well, I'm sure if we let Hitler invade just one or two countries, he'll stop after that."

Talking with the people the US considers its greatest enemy is appeasement?  Does that mean every Republican President in John McCain's incredibly long lifetime, save GWB, was an appeaser?  And they met personally with Soviet leaders, Obama isn't saying he'll meet personally with Ahmadinejad.

Grampy Bush. (0.00 / 0)
"Better" than an appeaser - an enabler!

Wonder if Sununu's fired now.

Is anyone surprised? (4.00 / 3)
The Republican leadership will do anything it can do to keep the White House. These are the people who stole the election in 2000. They haven't changed, just gotten a little more desperate.  Comparing a Democratic candidate to Neville Chamberlain is going to look tame by the time the election rolls around.

Energy and persistence conquer all things.

We fired up like a burning Bush

This is not a novel to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force.

If your bush is burning (0.00 / 0)
you should get some ointment.

Conyers is threatening to arrest Rove if he fails to honor a Congressional subpoena (0.00 / 0)
It's about damn time; this is a rule of law issue.

WHAT'S IT GOING TO TAKE FOR ME TO MAKE SURE THAT (4.00 / 2)
YOU DRIVE OUT OF THIS LOT TODAY WITH A BRAND NEW CHEVROLET?

(OMG: Terry owns the HRC nutcracker)

To be fair to Mr. McAuliffe, this moron is much much louder.  So loud his voice hurts my ears almost more than his stoopid. Almost:

Wonder if Sununu's fired now.

As Jonathan Alter said on Verdict tonight, (0.00 / 0)
Chamberlain's mistake wasn't going to Munich; it was giving away Czechoslovakia.

John McCain: "My First Term" (0.00 / 0)
We are meeting the adversary, and he is talking like us.

The following are excerpts from an e-mail from the McCain campaign. I have deliberately taken them out of order. He is describing the end of his first term:

Americans, who through no fault of their own, lost jobs in the global economy they once believed were theirs for life, are assisted by reformed unemployment insurance and worker retraining programs.

Public education in the United States is much improved and test scores and graduation rates are rising everywhere in the country. Health care has become more accessible to more Americans than at any other time in history.

The United States is well on the way to independence from foreign sources of oil; progress that has not only begun to alleviate the environmental threat posed from climate change, but has greatly improved our security as well.

But then he returns to the base:

Scores of judges have been confirmed to the federal district and appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, who understand that they were not sent there to write our laws but to enforce them.

And the first item on the list? A hedging of the 100 years in Iraq:

By January 2013, at the end of my first term as president, America has welcomed home most of the servicemen and women who have sacrificed terribly so that America might be secure in her freedom. The Iraq War has been won and Iraq is a functioning democracy. The threat from a resurgent Taliban in Afghanistan has been greatly reduced but not eliminated and there has not been a major terrorist attack in the United States since September 11, 2001.

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who sold his soul to please them all? (4.00 / 1)

"Do it live" (4.00 / 4)
The hottest phenomenon since "Don't tase me bro"?

Wonder if Sununu's fired now.
