2nd CD GOP Candidates Debated Last Night

by: elwood

Thu Jun 26, 2008 at 07:02:38 AM EDT

(This is a better, more concise review than I read in the papers, so I'm front-paging it. - promoted by Dean Barker)

Or rather, the four out of five who bothered to show up at the Keene Public Library. It drew a crowd of 50.

Voters heard:

  1. They all support the Iraq War
  2. Jennifer Horn is a stay-at-home mom - or rather, a stay-in-the-car mom
  3. Energy policy: More nukes!
  4. Energy policy: summer gas tax holidays!
  5. Don't use any known revenue source to fix the roads and bridges - and don't propose any new ones, either!
  6. FAIR Tax! Flat tax!

Signs (0.00 / 0)
That explains the Clegg signs that have sprouted up in Keene.

Hope > Fear

From the link elwood provided: (0.00 / 0)
About 50 people, many of whom wore stickers supporting one of the candidates, sat in a basement

Looks like Clegg flooded the place with his supporters.

Interesting, since he didn't bother showing up for the actual first CD2 GOPer debate at Plymouth State a couple months back.

Were recycling bins available at the event?

So, in conclusion, we've got:

a) a fantasy campaign built on AM radio airy platitudes
b) a lobbyist's best friend
c) a true believer unashamed to say the words "Islamofascism"
d) a vet who doesn't get any press attetion.

It's like an allegory of the current state of the GOP.

Wonder if Sununu's fired now.

My Goodness... (0.00 / 0)
Paul Hodes is heads and shoulders -- add shoes -- above any of them.  It's good to have Republicans be so clear about how bad they are.

Bad ain't got nuthin to do with it (0.00 / 0)
Voters choose good and bad.

Ensure that they are out of touch with the voters.

Not to lecture you, sir. My comment is more for others.

The giant finds its gait.

I never thought about it that way - Clegg and Horn are BRILLIANT!

Clegg said he supports the Fair Tax, a proposal heralded by former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, whom Clegg supported.

It calls for taxing goods and services, not income.

"We should stop taxing productivity," he said. "Because I think the more money you get to keep in your pocket, the better off we are."

Horn said she supports a flat tax. "We must cut taxes, simplify the tax code and end wasteful government spending," she said.

Because the percent of household income of a sales tax on a minivan for a middle class mother of five is exactly the same as the percent of household income of a sales tax on a minivan for John Sununu and Steve Forbes.

Genius!

Wonder if Sununu's fired now.

And for the second time (0.00 / 0)
in less than a week, Jennifer Horn is incapable of offering media captured specifics on how she differs from Paul Hodes:
Candidates were asked what is Hodes biggest mistake.

"I'm going with perpetuating the single worst government policy and that's the farm policy," Bosse said.

"He must have left his backbone in his suitcase because we haven't seen it once since he got to Washington," Horn said. "Paul Hodes has never fought for anyone but himself."

Steiner said Hodes was wrong to vote against a recent FISA law.

Instead, she offers specifics on how she is the same as Paul Hodes:

Horn said that nation should undergo an "Apollo type mentality" to solve the energy crisis..

Wonder if Sununu's fired now.

An Obama Administration should...
expand Bush's Office of Faith-Based Inititatives
maintain Bush's Office of Faith-Based Inititatives
eliminate Bush's Office of Faith-Based Inititative
