I confess to having a BIG smile on my face because my biggest fear - that the Obama campaign would not respond forcefully to the false yet inevitable attacks questioning Senator Obama's sincerity, religion, political beliefs, etc. - is no more. Prepare yourselves for the counter-punch!
I strongly urge Blue Hamsters to share this document "Unfit for Publication: An Investigative Report on the Lies in Jerome Corsi's 'Obama Nation'" ( link also found here) with anyone & everyone you know who might believe the disgusting lies being spewed by the bigots who have corrupted American conservatism. It is 41 pages of point-by-point refutation of the author of "Unfit for Command" (the Swift Boat book) and his claims in his new piece of libel.
It is well worth your time to read and to encourage others to review as well. You will see what a bigot this author is, his thoughts on Catholicism and Islam and pages of his lies, masking as journalism.
In March or April of 2007 Senator Dick Durbin met with a handful of NH Lawyers for Obama. Being the youngest there, I asked him a question that was so important to me that I was actually nervous to ask it.
I asked Senator Durbin,
I agree with you that Senator Obama is a once-in-a-lifetime, generational candidate but I remember in 2004 how depressed my friends and I were when John Kerry let the Swift Boat story fester. We all knew that if he wouldn't respond to having his war service questioned that he would lose. It depressed us from working hard for him. If Senator Obama wins the nomination, how do you know he'll fight back when they come after him?
Senator Durbin then told us a story about a focus group report indicating Kerry's failure to defend himself perpetuated what would have been a 24 hour news story into a 3 week affair, crippling his chances at beating Pres. Bush. He said that Senator Obama had seen that report, that he came from Chicago and in Chicago, you are never above counter-punching. When you get hit, you hit back harder. Senator Obama will not be swift-boated.
