Joe Biden speaks to New Hampshire at a Town Hall in Nashua

by: Brian P. Clark

Thu Sep 11, 2008 at 00:33:36 AM EDT

(Thanks Brian - promoted by Dean Barker)

Hi. I'm Brian, a staffer from the Obama/Biden campaign. Wanted to share this delightful day with everyone...

Senator Joe Biden was in Nashua, New Hampshire today and motivated the crowd at the Nashua Community College.

The crowd of over 500 felt the urgency as the days tick away toward November 4th. This election is different. We can no longer sit back and wait for others to make it better. This election is about us; each one of us; you, me, and our neighbors coming out and talking to each other about how we can change the world ourselves. This is new.

Senator Biden knows the change we need. You know the change we need. It's clear and it includes addressing the healthcare crisis, the energy crisis, the housing crisis, the education crisis... how many crises can we take all at once? We need solutions that make sense for all hard working Americans, like those below, who came to hear about this change.

We need you to motivate. We need you to get involved. We need you to talk to your neighbors in New Hampshire and spread the word. Without you, we cannot reach out to everyone it will take to win this crucial state. It's going to be close here in New Hampshire, real close. There are so many Independents, Republicans, and Democrats that want the change Barack Obama and Joe Biden will bring. You can bring that change too! Come to your nearest Field Office. Undecided voters are waiting. They need to hear from you. Our problems won't get solved without you!

Thank you NH Vets (4.00 / 2)
In the Flickr app, you'll see Bill Duncan, Tom Brown and John Rubery, the VFW State Commander. I saw Bill Marot there, in the video.

There is a peception out there, a legend really, that John McCain is supported by most veterans. After 20 months of working on the ground in NH, I know that to be false.

The NH Veterans for Barack Obama are working hard to ensure McCain's deplorable voting record and policy proposal become clearer to NH voters. Once the facts are presented, the choice to vote for Obama/Biden will be that much easier to make.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Let me share a phonebank conversation with you.

I was calling vets about a week ago, as part of my routine. A gentleman, undecided, said that he liked both candidates, but that, as a vet, he favored McCain. He said the usual, McCain is a hero line. "Yes he is", I said. Then I asked how he felt about issues like taking care of vets and our Iraq policy.

He said, roughly, 'we should be embarrassed at how we neglect veterans in this country', followed by, 'we should have never gone into Iraq. The fight was in Afghanistan. That was where bin Laden was.'

I froze up on the phone a little because I knew I had a unique chance to bring this vet over to Obama. I began by informing him of McCain's lack of support for VA funding and then I asked him if he knew that Obama felt the same as he on the GWOT issue.

I said, 'Look, I can't read your mind, but it seems that your heart strings, as a vet, are with McCain; but that your brain is with Obama on the key matters of policy.'
Continuing, 'Many vets simply assume, based on their own fidelity to their comrades, that McCain has honored that fidelity, but he simply has not. He truly, only talks the talk. McCain's words do not match his record.'

As we wrapped up, the man's voice softened. He sounded more open to Obama, but ended, saying he was still undecided.

We have 54 days left to demonstrate to him, and his peers, along with their friends and families, that Obama/Biden is head and shoulders, the better choice.

We have to earn his support by working hard and presenting the facts.

The giant finds its gait.

Did everyone hear about McCain's event in Philly, sans Palin? (0.00 / 0)
He tried to make a speech, but he was drowned out by supporters chanting their candidate's name.

(Oh, and they were Obama supporters.)

So how cool is it (0.00 / 0)
that Biden is doing town halls in NH, while the spawn of Rove who control John McCain have dictated to him that he's no longer doing them?

Wonder if Sununu's fired now.
