Hoping to hear some counterpunch at this.
5:35 - Beth LaMontagne's got some vid and commmentary from the Dover visit here. As for NHTI, the place is still filling up. Set to go at 6.
5:58 - Packed house - should be starting up soon. Lots of familiar faces in the crowd and with the press.
6:15 - "HOCKEY MOMS FOR OBAMA" signs spotted. Awesome. Also, word has it Paul Hodes will be kicking it off to rile up the crowd.
6:30 - Starting off with a pastor from the UCCC in Concord. From the prayer: "We are tired of isolation, and war."
Next up, a Vet from Goffstown doing the pledge. Now, a field organizer from the Concord office.
Here's comes Paul Hodes. Some snippets:
[About meeting with Obama in DC] I was speaking with a man [Obama]... with backbone.. to take advantage of this moment in history... for standing together for the change we need... [Obama is] the right man at the right time...
Turn this ship of state around... People are downright scared about this winter...
What does John McCain offer? [McCain has] taken politics to a new low... All of a sudden John McCain is all about change.... He wants to take away a woman's right to choose...For health care, you're on your own.
I'm proud to be here tonight, because this campaign is just getting going...
Huge applause at the finish.
7:10 - Stiiillllll waiting for the guest of honor...
7:28 - Here we go. Concord High counselor introducing him now.
Enter Obama! Thanking the Demers-Helms co-chairs. Nice touch. Snippets:
We have seen the economy unravel these past 19 months [since announcing his run]... This is a desperate time...What does this mean for the American dream.
John McCain...spent most of the election... as somebody with experience...But I guess this change thing must be catching on...The style of politics he's been playing over the past four weeks comes right out of Karl Rove's playbook.
They must think the American people are stupid!
If we don't fix our energy problems now, we are going to forfeit our competitive edge in the future and be dependent on rogue nations for oil...We can't drill our way out of the problem... [biggest applause of the speech when promoting alternative fuels].
I am happy to have a debate with John McCain about his judgment and mine. [HUGE applause.]
Lobbyists...will not run my White House.
What have they been talking about... lipstick...pigs...Britney...Paris...These are serious times and it requires a serious debate.
I may not have the lobbyists, but I've got you.
Lots of linking McSame to Bush, over and over and over. Bashing the McCain advisors on their own quotes, "whiner," etc... A lot of time talking about how McCain now wants to be the "change" guy, and how pathetic that is.
