Attention Obama Fans!

To those who have become excited by the presidential campaign through Barack Obama's candidacy of change, please read on:

Almost a year ago, when there were seven contenders vying for the Democratic nomination, when Hillary Clinton was ahead in the polls, and when much of the state political establishment was behind her, freshman Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter, who had previously been neutral, surprised everyone and endorsed Barack Obama.

Carol Shea-Porter was there for Obama when he needed her the most. And now it's time for Obama and his army of fired up Granite Staters to be there for her.

You see, since her victory in 2006 is defined as something of a surprise fluke  - the truth is actually the opposite - the Republican party, debased nationally, feels as if this is one of the few races they have a shot at taking back.

In her short time in Congress, Carol Shea-Porter has been the consistent voice for change that Obama will herald in a new presidency. Just imagine a House and Senate and White House united to undo the damage done these past eight years.

So, fans of Obama, if you are at today's mega-rally in Manchester, consider stopping by to see Carol Shea-Porter, who is kicking off her re-election effort today. It's within walking distance of the rally.

CAMPAIGN KICK-OFF
SATURDAY, SEPT. 13 AT 2PM
CONGRESSWOMAN CAROL SHEA-PORTER at THE CHATEAU RESTAURANT
201 HANOVER ST. MANCHESTER
WWW.SHEAPORTER.COM
for more information call 603-397-3190

Update: CSP, from the kickoff:

"I have kept my promise to you - to stand up against special interests and represent the rest of us," said Shea-Porter. "I am fighting for better veterans care, energy independence and jobs and healthcare for the middle class. Our future requires vision and boldness. We can't go back to the days of rubber stamping failed policies and with your help, we won't. "

And this is brilliant. Courtesy the 'Ticker:

"John Stephen and I disagree on a lot of things, but we agree on one thing and that's Jeb Bradley is [per the vid] was what's wrong with Washington," Shea-Porter told supporters at Chateau restaurant.

US Chamber of Commerce campaigning against her (0.00 / 0)
On one of the local radio stations at work yesterday (not sure which) I heard twice before noon an ad praising Jeb Bradley to the skies and urging listeners to go call and thank him for being so pro-family with his tax breaks and opposition to "the marriage penalty" - and to scold CSP, too. The narrator was a bubbly young woman, and the ad was paid for by the US Chamber of Commerce, according to the credits.

I didn't know that the USCC was allowed to campaign for one party or candidate over another!

What the Republican party "feels" is really beside the point. (0.00 / 0)
Jeb was a nebbish in 2006 and he's still a nebbish.  I particularly resent that he had those town meetings in which he touted the "new" clinic for veterans, without revealing that was supposed to be a substitute (poor) for shutting down the full-service hospital.

It seems that Republicans have made their peace with having to give up involuntary servitude by having come up with the voluntary kind.  Indeed, they seem to have discovered that they actually prefer voluntary servitude because, since people have submitted themselves of their own free will, nobody owes them any special consideration.

Of course, "stop loss" has transformed voluntary servitude into the involuntary kind, but that's another matter.

BTW, pro-family is just a euphemism for the "father knows best" syndrome--an affirmation of authority on the basis of paternity.

Of course, considering the meager legislative record of the top of the ticket, Bradley's non-feasance probably doesn't look so bad.

btw, Jeb's clinic had no doctor (4.00 / 1)
for a couple of years, until CSP was in office.

Give Democrats the next 3 months and Democrats will give you back your country.

True Story: "She definately has my vote." (4.00 / 3)
After the Manchester Rally today, I spotted a vet hanging out, "taking in the sights." When I appoached him, he greeted me warmly, but stated that he was supporting McCain/Palin. We chatted amicably, as we both respected each's service and both of us felt that the field had been narrowed to the best 2 of the candidiates.
I gave him mad props from pulling McCain from the brink of the abyss during the primaries, as we know, had McCain lost NH it would have been all but over. He respected Obama and agreed with some of Obama's positions on Foreign Policy and the GWOT.

I didn't give him the pitch, but rather tried to represent Obama in a bi-partisan way. Then out of the blue he looked at me dead in the eye and said, "McCain is the only Republican" that he will be voting for. He praised Carol's work for vets and CD1. When I asked him if he could volunteer for Carol, he said he would like to but "pressure" would prevent it, but that "she definately has my vote."

So folks, if you run into a vet that is with McCain, please don't assume that vet will go GOP straight ticket. There is a fidelity among vets that runs deep. That fidelity is only matched by a sense of duty to the nation and that duty may very well bring their vote to Lynch, Shaheen, Hodes and Carol Shea-Porter.

The giant finds its gait.

Wonderful! (0.00 / 0)
Stories like this are crucial for beating back the intertia narratives that because Jeb is a man and a Republican he is somehow better for vets.  We know the truth is the opposite, and we've got to get that word out.

Wonder if Sununu's fired now.
