Incalculable Loss

by: Dean Barker

Doris Dungey, a.k.a "Tanta" at Calculated Risk, one of the premiere econoblogs, passed away today.

This has got nothing to do with New Hampshire politics.

But when one of the finest writers out there, armed with anonymity and a blog and zero traditional influence, can earn the respect of Paul Krugman and the Fed, it's incumbent on the rest of blogworld, imo, to sit up and take notice and say thanks for the many times our eyes were drawn to her posts.

Adding: Almost forgot the most important part.  contrary to legions of paid econopundits talking at you on the TeeVee, Tanta was actually right about the mortgage crisis - long before it was obvious.

We need economic literacy (4.00 / 2)
in this country, and people like Tanta did their best to call our attention to the coming debacle.  We end up in messes like this one because most of us have no clue about economics and get taken to the cleaners by people like Bushco.  I know I have had a crash course over the last 8 years, and been so frustrated by reading on the blogs the people who saw it coming and then finding that so few were listening.
Work to do, creating a media that informs.

We believe in prosperity & opportunity, strong communities, healthy families, great schools, investing in our future and leading the world by example. We are Democrats; we are the change you're looking for.
