Kathy wrote a very thoughful piece for the UL (4.00 / 2)
http://www.unionleader.com/art...

I agree with Kathy's sentiments and appreciate how she portrayed her journey...many of us have come to better understand the inequality in the Civil Unions bill as we heard from our brothers and sisters during this debate. It is so interesting to see we the)people evolve, how we came to grips with lives lived for years in the shadows. The light has opened our eyes. We can't abide differing classes of people because we have different inclinations. America is beautiful and our strength is our diversity.

Nice piece (4.00 / 1)
and much appreciated...it's wonderful to hear pro-equality from an "establishment" figure, and one who admits political hesitancy in the past. Thanks for the link!

change happens slowly (0.00 / 0)
like that little drip of water that wears away at the rock...its not intuitive that a soft, transparent, seemingly formless thing could wear away the hard permanent rock. But constancy, directness of purpose, and stick-to-itiveness triumph every time. Tyrants and biggots arise in every age, but we will beat them by hanging together !

Reading the comments... (4.00 / 1)
Didn't know there were so much people that read the Union Leader who want to marry their sister. Ew. But whatever floats their boat.

So... (4.00 / 5)
I was standing in the State House hallway outside of the hearing room mixed in with the crowd trying to squeeze in to the jam packed room. This rather pleasant looking woman (but clearly anti-marriage equality) turned to me and asked what my rainbow flag lapel pin was for. At first, I thought she may be pulling my leg but looking in  her eyes I realized she honestly didn't know. So I said that the rainbow flag, for the past 30 years or so, stood for gay and lesbians rights. Her reply was "Oh, I wish we had a flag." I just smiled, since I had no idea where this conversation was headed...

Democrats solve problems, Republicans sit and say no.

Was that before or after I shook your hand?

A suggested flag, from Paul Simon: (0.00 / 0)
And after it rains, there's a rainbow
And all of the colors are black
It's not that the colors aren't there
It's just imagination they lack...

(That's a bit mean-spirited of me - it sounds like she was being nice and making conversation, even complimenting the pin.)
