Don't Give Up: A Message from California

by: Dean Barker

While having marriage equality go through the legislative process of a representative democracy is far, far preferable to me than California's referenda and court decisions, I really have to hand it to the tireless advocates for marriage out there.  They are truly a source of inspiration:
We can do this, New Hampshire, this year.

Keeping On Working To The Final Vote (4.00 / 1)
Let's keep on working to the final vote in the House.  The Senate will likely agree tomorrow to having a Committee of Conference on House Bill 73.  That's the bill that includes the Governor's requested language to ensure the protection of freedom and independence of religion.

When it is reported back to the Senate and House, either next Wednesday on June 3rd, or the following Wenesday on June 10th, it will need all the votes we can muster.

The vote will be CLOSE.  Those of us counting the votes last week weren't "shocked," as much of the media reported, because we knew the vote would be close.  Our count was 185-189 on our side.  We had 186.  Losing on a 188-186 vote could just as easily have been a win with a switch of just one vote.  So on June 3rd or 10th, we need EVERY vote.

That means all www.BlueHampshire.com readers need to check the roll call and be sure to call your Legislator if he or she is one of those 25 Democrats who voted against http://www.gencourt.state.nh.u... OR if you live in a district where a Republican voted against.  Let them hear from you.  Call, or visit them -- don't just blast an E-Mail, although that helps too.  Write a personal letter -- there's time to get it in the mail. This will win only with your help.

They need to see our faces and hear our stories.

This articulate young man is my nephew. I have been keeping him up-to-date on the fight for marriage equality in NH. We must keep working! Thank you Jim Splaine for all you do.

has there been (0.00 / 0)
a committee if conference agreement? for which one of the two options?
