CONCORD - After President Obama held a town hall meeting today in Green Bay, WI to talk about the need for health care reform that controls costs, protects choice, and makes quality, affordable health care available to every American, New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Raymond Buckley issued the following statement in support of President Obama's efforts:
"Our health care system is broken. Unless we act now the 45 million Americans who currently do not have health insurance and the millions more who are underinsured will continue to be priced out of the system by skyrocketing premiums and denied health care coverage because of pre-existing conditions. If we do not act by the end of the year the chance to provide affordable quality health care will have been lost. The time for action is now.
"During the campaign Sen. Obama promised to address the health care crisis head-on and as President he is fulfilling that promise. The President wants health care reform that lowers costs, provides choice of physician and access to quality health care for all Americans. What the president has outlined holds true to the values and beliefs of the people of New Hampshire, regardless of party affiliation.
"The task of bringing about health care reform will be difficult and the special interests- the opponent of reform- will be vocal. Over the course of the next few months all Americans need to stand with President Obama and those in Congress who are paving the road for a health care system that brings quality and provides choice and access. The time for health care reform is now and the urgency for change has never been greater. However, the only way reform will come is if Granite Staters stand-up and make their voices heard at this critical time."
