Sen. DeMint has been refusing to allow a vote on Obama's nominee to head the TSA. One Senator from one backward state isn't supposed to be able to stop things. Certainly not against a President elected nationwide. But the Senate Club encourages this, just as it encourages minority filibusters.
The President could use the recess appointment power today and fill that slot. He could do that with a public statement:
I am sick and tired of the Senate putting the nation's good in second place, behind the same 'traditions' that preserved Jim Crow segregation for generations.
No more. If Senator Reid cannot make the Senate work, I will go around it every chance I get.
He won't do that.
Mr. President: If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
