There Are Better Ways to Raise Money

by: Dean Barker

Tue Mar 16, 2010 at 19:39:47 PM EDT

So apparently there's some stoopid rumor among the local GOP that John Lynch is thinking of running for Senate.

Because Lynch's statement from last July totally leaves the door wide open:

When asked if he would ever run against Ayotte if she chooses to run for U.S. Senate in 2010, Lynch replied, "I will never consider running for Senate against anybody."
There's got to be better ways for the other team to raise money for their campaigns than wishful thinking.

Wishful thinking is as close as they ever get to (4.00 / 1)
thinking.

Oh, come on, there is a world of (0.00 / 0)
difference between "running for" and "running against."  It's only the press that thinks it's the same thing.

Republicans run against opponents.  Democrats apply for a job.  Republicans are people focused.  Democrats are achievement directed.

Demand Side Control, Not Supply Side (0.00 / 0)
Wherever there is a demand, guess what: there'll be a supply.
To get campaign spending under control, we must require TV stations to give free air time, same amount to all candidates. No more no less. When millions are needed, millions will be gotten.

No'm Sayn?

It worked when we were kids (0.00 / 0)
I'm not so sure it could work today.

The government's authority to require that was based on the notion of "the public airwaves:" radio frequencies as a scarce commodity that nobody could own.

Over-the-air broadcasters are shrinking. CNN, Comedy Central, Bravo! are all cable-only - with no "public airwave" justification for requiring free time.
