NH GOP Set to Campaign on Health Care Repeal in NH

by: FREE Citizen

Tue Mar 23, 2010 at 06:52:57 AM EDT

As President Obama is set to sign into law the Health Care Reform bill on Tuesday, the NH GOP is losing no time to deny New Hampshire families the new rights and benefits of coverage and affordability under the dubious protests of yesterday's GOP icon State Senator Jeb Bradley with the tacit support of the State Senate Minority Leader Peter Bragdon and Gubernatorial candidate John Stephen. In the Tuesday March 23 edition of the NH Union Leader:

State Sen. Jeb Bradley took the lead on a Republican effort at the State House to block the Democratic health care reform bill from taking effect in New Hampshire.

The Wolfeboro Republican and former congressman said that tomorrow, he will offer a measure on the Senate floor that would ban the federal government from forcing any Granite Stater to buy health care insurance.

One wonders will they also excite and incite the kind of "class-less" expressions of outrage among the angry and the armed as the discourse deteriorates in the Halls of Congress and the mean streets across America.   New York Times columnist Bob Herbert says it better than any in today's Times:

At some point, we have to decide as a country that we just can't have this: We can't allow ourselves to remain silent as foaming-at-the-mouth protesters scream the vilest of epithets at members of Congress - epithets that The Times will not allow me to repeat here.

It is 2010, which means it is way past time for decent Americans to rise up against this kind of garbage, to fight it aggressively wherever it appears. And it is time for every American of good will to hold the Republican Party accountable for its role in tolerating, shielding and encouraging foul, mean-spirited and bigoted behavior in its ranks and among its strongest supporters.

Speaker Pelosi said yesterday "I don't speculate on what their motivations are, I watch what they actually do." It will be interesting to see what Bradley and Bragdon and John Stephen do as they stir up the pot of protest, and what they say - and don't say - as their pot boils over.
