Frank Guinta is rolling out a website where he, as the appointed spokesperson for the people, asks them to set the terms of the dialog. He calls his newest website "YourHouseYourVoice.com"
(One irony I will mention on passing is that Guinta, like most neocons, likes to deride his opponents as "Marxists," "Communists," and "socialists"--- while himself espousing Marxist ideas. His whole concept of letting government wither away and letting corporate entities run everything is straight out of Lenin's playbook.)
The site contains a checklist of what he believes are the most important issues facing him as a hopeful US Representative. He is missing a few pretty important issues, and the ones he includes are all about protecting corporate persons from being interfered with by the government (which is run by natural persons.) It might be fun to show the list. You are supposed to pick 5 out of 10:
Reclaiming the Peoples House:Congress should be limited to a total of 12 years per House. That is two-6 year terms for each member of the Senate and six-two year terms for each member of the House of Representatives.
Make the Federal Reserve Accountable:Bring transparency and accountability to the Federal Reserve by directing the Government Accountability Office to conduct extensive audits.
Repeal the Death Tax:The death tax is scheduled to come back to life in 2011 and should be permanently repealed. The death tax discourages saving and investing, undermines job creation, wage growth and hurts those who have their savings tied up in land and other hard-to-sell assets.
Repeal the Three Percent Withholding Requirement for Government Contractors:This would repeal the current rule mandating a three percent withholding on certain payments made to taxpayers under contracts with federal, state, and local governments.
Show Committee Votes Online:Post members' committee votes online within 48 hours.
Bring Transparency and Openness to the Rules Committee:Allow cameras in the secretive Rules Committee which decides which bills come to a vote.
Government Transparency:Every non-emergency legislation in its final form should be made public 72 hours before a vote can be taken. All government expenditures authorized by any legislation should be easily accessible for review on the internet before the money is spent.
No to Automatic Congressional Pay Raises:The automatic 'cost of living' adjustment for members of Congress is wrong. I will offer legislation to do away with it and to require any increase in compensation to be voted on publicly.
Eliminate the Capital Gains Tax:Encourage businesses to invest in job creating capital investments through the elimination of the capital gains tax.
Zero-based Budgeting for All Federal Agencies:As I did city-wide in Manchester, make all federal departments justify their spending each fiscal year.
You can join in the fun, if you like: http://www.yourvoiceyourhouse.com
One funny thing which happened when I joined in (and actually clicked on the zero-based budgeting, the federal reserve audit, and the posting committee votes online) was that the "captcha" widget at the bottom of the page used the phrase "imam the."
