Hudson Chamber Breaks with US Chamber of Commerce

by: Dean Barker

Sun Oct 17, 2010 at 20:50:08 PM EDT

Good for them:
On Friday, the Greater Hudson Chamber of Commerce released a statement saying its board of directors has voted not to renew its membership with the national chamber because it felt recent political advertisements by the national chamber in support of specific parties and candidates were in "direct conflict" with the foundation of the Hudson chamber.

...The decision wasn't made lightly.

"We didn't like the fact that the U.S. Chamber was supporting particular candidates," Mayotte said. "We don't think it's good business practice to do so.

If more local chambers do the same, perhaps the national group can just change their name to something more honest, like the Foreign Chamber of Outsourcers.

by: Dean Barker

Fri Oct 15, 2010 at 20:54:04 PM EDT

The oddly named US Chamber of Commerce, in addition to taking money form foreign companies that specialize in outsourcing, recently dumped one million dollars into smearing Paul Hodes.

Foreigners for Kelly Ayotte, Pt. II

by: Dean Barker

Thu Oct 07, 2010 at 06:01:09 AM EDT

How many Bahrainians are contributing to the effort to elect Kelly Ayotte?
Democratic U.S. Senate candidate and Rep. Paul Hodes is being targeted again, this time in a nearly $1 million two-week television ad buy by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Thank you Justices Scalia and Thomas, for ensuring that our elections will be manipulated by non-Americans.

The delicate press of New Hampshire might want to touch on this aspect of who is paying for the TeeVee deluge Granite Staters are under.

Adding: and beyond the foreigners - how much money is BP and AIG and the like funneling into our elections this way?

by: Dean Barker

Tue Oct 05, 2010 at 22:23:00 PM EDT

The US Chamber of Commerce raises lots and lots of money from foreigners but will not disclose who they are.

The US Chamber of Commerce spends lots and lots of money trashing Democrats. Including Paul Hodes.

Why is Kelly Ayotte relying on money from foreigners to win her election?

Hodes Faces Down Chamber of Commerce Smear Ads

by: Dean Barker

Fri Mar 12, 2010 at 20:26:49 PM EST

As James Pindell reported Wednesday, the US Chamber of Commerce plans on dropping 200K worth of TeeVee ads trying to scare Granite Staters out of their desire to see meaningful health care reform by attacking Paul Hodes' support of it.

Paul responded immediately, refusing to let them define him or the senate race:

"They can use all the fear tactics, false information and corporate money they want," he told TPM in a statement this morning. "I won't stop fighting for the middle-class families and small businesses in this state that need real reform now."

..."I will not be bullied into changing my position," Hodes told reporters on the call, according to the New Hampshire Union-Leader.

Better Business for New Hampshire

by: James Boyce

Tue Jan 19, 2010 at 13:49:13 PM EST

( - promoted by Dean Barker)

The stance taken by the US Chamber of Commerce on climate change is damaging the confidence Americans have in business' ability to respond to current challenges. The Chamber has been fighting climate change legislation tooth and nail on behalf of the US coal industry that makes up a very small segment of their membership. Other business have taken notice, as the list of companies leaving the Chamber is growing. The Chamber chose to entrench its stance on the lead up to the Copenhagen climate conference and this resulted in the departure of Exelon Corp, Pacific Gas & Electric, PNM Resources, Mohawk Fine Papers, and Apple.
