I honestly can't tell if this is real or satire

Must be the 23% that are delusional enough to think Bush deserves one more day in office, let alone a third term.

Regardless, I hope it gets some traction and siphons votes away from McCain.

No Opinion? How is that possible.

by: rambler american

Mon Jun 30, 2008 at 18:21:44 PM EDT

Latest ARG poll shows 75% of NH voters expressing negative when asked about Bush's job performance. No real surprise there. Same poll shows 16% approve of his job performance. Probably the truly greedy that benefit from Bush's corrupt policies. That leaves 9% undecided. And who the hell are THOSE people. How do you not have an opinion when the economy is in the early stages of a complete meltdown, Osama still on the loose, torture has become institutionalized as an interrogation technique, soldiers dying daily in an illegitimate war, gas at $4.15/gallon, heating oil following gas prices, citizens being spied upon without warrant, our very Constitution being shredded and on and on and on and 9% of NH voters express NO OPINION??? WTF? Have people trained their pets to answer the phone?

NH Democratic party votes in favor of Impeachment

by: rambler american

Sun May 18, 2008 at 15:12:44 PM EDT

The NH Democratic Party voted today to pass HR24, Betty Hall's Petition to Impeach. I know it's late and that Bush/Cheney will be out of office in 7 months anyway, assuming they leave peacefully, but I still maintain that Impeachment should be considered if for no other reason than that a message must be sent to future would be dictators that criminal behavior in Our White House will not be tolerated. And how fitting would it be if the state that holds the first primary is the first state to pass legislation leading to investigations that culminate in impeachment.

Live Free and Die

New Hampshire, the ONLY state to not require adults to wear seat belts, the state that does not require drivers to have insurance on their autos, the state that sells liquor on the interstate...that state seems not to believe that texting while driving is a serious problem.

CONCORD, N.H. -- The Senate has all but killed a move to make it illegal for drivers to send text messages on cell phones or type on laptop computers or other electronic devices.

The Senate voted 15-9 Thursday night to put the bill on the table -- a parliamentary move that effectively kills it.

http://www.wmur.com/news/16297...

I have twice been very nearly nailed by cell phone talking drivers  that failed to notice the light had turned red. Talking! How  much worse is typing on a tiny keyboard.

Oh well, at least NH is consistent.

HR24 Impeachment Rally

by: rambler american

Tue Apr 15, 2008 at 09:45:43 AM EDT

( - promoted by Dean Barker)

I spent Monday evening at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord where there was a rally in support of Betty Hill's HR24 which, if passed when it is voted on Wednesday, will go under state seal to the US House of Representatives demanding that Congress begin impeachment hearings immediately. (My friend Bert was at the last minute unable to attend and I was disinclined to go alone. Fortunately despite her marginal interest in things political, my lovely wife agreed to accompany me for which I here express my gratitude.)  I attended because I passionately believe that impeachment is the first necessary step to bring our country back from the abyss, if, in fact, we have not already fallen in. I should point out before I go any farther that I do not take good notes, am afflicted with Attention Deficit Disorder, and have a failing memory, traits which helped me to graduate dunno how cum. Please bear with me and I will try to hit the highlights.

Upcoming Recount?

by: rambler american

Fri Jan 11, 2008 at 06:03:31 AM EST

Dennis is asking for a recount of the NH primary. NH is in a somewhat unique postion for a test of the Diebold election machines as state law demands paper ballots as opposed to magnetic data storage. If chain of command of those ballots isn't corrupted a hand count will show if the results are correct.

NH Poll: Gore Trumps Clinton, Sununu at 31% for Re-election

by: rambler american

Wed Jun 27, 2007 at 18:43:50 PM EDT

(I changed the title to reflect the fantastic news about Sununu, and added a couple of grafs. - promoted by Dean Barker)

According to the Suffolk University Political Research Center, Al Gore handily defeats all other contenders, including Hillary among NH voters.

Link to Article

Run, Al, Run

Update by Dean:Here are the numbers from the article:

If Mr. Gore got into the 2008 presidential nomination contest, he would edge out Mrs. Clinton in New Hampshire 32 percent to 26 percent and defeat the rest of the Democratic contenders, says a 7NEWS-Suffolk University poll of likely voters.

And here's something to really make you smile (from the same poll, emphasis mine):

Sen. John Sununu, New Hampshire Republican, appears to be in trouble, with only 31 percent in the poll saying he deserves re-election and 47 percent saying someone else should get his seat.

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percent overall.

Gregg evidently still believes Iraq attacked us on 9-11

by: rambler american

Mon Jan 22, 2007 at 21:39:33 PM EST

He wouldn't just be saying that, would he?

Mr. GREGG. Mr. President, I rise to talk a little bit about the situation in Iraq and how we are trying to deal with this as a nation. We need to start with, when we are discussing Iraq, what are our national interests and why are we engaged there.

Our basic national interest in Iraq is the protection of America, our desire to make sure that we are projecting our purposes in a way that reduces the ability of those who would wish to do us harm in this war against us, which was declared in the late 1990s, when it was obviously brought to our shores on September 11,

Time to go?

by: rambler american

Sat Jan 20, 2007 at 18:39:46 PM EST

The recent elections make this suggestion less compelling, but I'd like to put it on the table for your consideration nevertheless.

With the increasing influence of the religious right on every aspect of our lives, and the Bush White House ignoring the evident will of the citizens of this country expressed in November, perhaps we should consider that it is time to leave. I'm not talking about emigrating, though I am strongly considering that option, having recently purchased property in New Brunswick, Canada. No I'm suggesting that New Hampshire join with members of Second Vermont Republic to leave the United States. http://www.vermontre...
