Update On That Republican Racist Legislative Candidate Dude

by: Rep. Jim Splaine

Tue Jul 06, 2010 at 14:56:52 PM EDT

I heard today from Shira Schoenberg, a reporter from The Concord Monitor -- she writes excellent political and other news items in that newspaper, by the way -- that the Republican Party finally has come out opposed to that dude I mentioned in a www.BlueHampshire.com Blogpost this past Sunday morning.  That post, titled "REPUBLICANS:  What The Hell Is This All About," detailed a letter to the editor that Ryan J. Murdough of Ashland had written to that newspaper entitled "We Must Preserve Our Racial Identity."  He's filed as a candidate for New Hampshire State Representative in the Republican Party primary.

The Republicans should be congratulated for finally saying something, although it took a while.  I hope the Republicans hit home their opposition to the positions of The American Third Position, which Mr. Murdough represents (WEBSITE, http://american3p.org/   Neither Democrats or Republicans need any votes from the far-confused who believe in the positions of that group.

Interestingly, until the Republican Party finally said something about it this morning, I just noted two responses.  I'm surprised it took 48+ hours for more to say something.

To his credit, on Monday former Republican U.S. Congressional candidate Grant Bosse wrote a post in RedHampshire.com commenting on this dude:

"Racist Whack-Job Running As A Republican"
Jim Splaine posts over at BH about a candidate I've never heard of running for State Rep. from Ashland, quoting a column in the Concord Monitor.

For far too long white Americans have been told that diversity is something beneficial to their existence. Statistics prove that the opposite is true. New Hampshire residents must seek to preserve their racial identity if we want future generations to have to possibility to live in such a great state.

While this idiot is registered as a Republican, he's from some group that claims to speak for white America. These crackpots don't speak for me. I'm not going to grace them by typing their names or providing links, but you can follow the trail through BH if you're really interested.

Rep. Splaine is right to call this guy out. And while I'm sure there will be overheated demands to denounce this racist moron that most Republicans have never heard of, we can most effectively counter this racist jerk by making sure he doesn't win the Republican nomination. There are five candidates for three seats in Grafton 8. Let's make sure this chucklehead isn't one of them."

Sadly, no Republican has commented on Grant's courageous post in that Blogsite even as of this Tuesday afternoon, so can we surmise from their silence that other Republicans accept this guy?

Then I open my E-Mail this morning and got a Facebook comment from Joe Kelly Levasseur, titled

Rep. Jim Splaine :: Update On That Republican Racist Legislative Candidate Dude
"Subject:  BlueHampshire Post." Instead of taking this guy on publicly, he goes after me, saying:  (spelling errors remain as he wrote it so I can't be accused of editing his words) "Mr. Splaine, I am deeply troubld by your post on BlueHampshire attacking the republican party because of one lunatic running for state representative. Jim, you have been able, over your long career, to cross party lines, someone that many republicans have respected for yuor seriousness and your professionalism and mostly because you have always been respectful of people no matter what party they are from. I am not sure why you posted that headline. I'm not sure what caused you make such a knee jerk reaction. What I do know, is that it is below your standards and it certainly is not the way for you to go out. There isn't one republican that could take this idiot seriously, and as you are well aware, the republican nor the democratic pary can stop nuts from running for political office. Your post is innapropriate for the standard that you have set for yourself over the years. I wish you would take it down. Thank you."

At least he said "thank you," though I don't know for what.

Well, Joe needs to know that the post remains, as does the call for more good Republicans everywhere and anywhere to speak out not only against this "candidate," but against the confused, anti-patriotic, anti-American, anti-freedom positions of the American Third Position.  Take this guy and the group that has already endorsed him on, don't go after me.

And give your thanks to Grant Bosse, the one person in your party who for 24 hours stood too alone with the guts to do so.  You and other Republicans should follow his lead, not sniff me out on Facebook for your attacks.

The link provided to the ATP website and I recommend that others abstain. Driving up the traffic on their site is a net negative.

Thanks for catching this and getting the word out, Jim.

Whack-a-mole, anyone?

You're Right Jack... (0.00 / 0)
...and suffice to say you've heard it all before.  It's the fear-anyone-who's-different garbage written by people who haven't read the United States Constitution or the Declaration of Independence.

These are the people who as kids slept during history classes.  But it's good to know they're out there, and we need to take them on whenver they rear their ignorant, anti-American heads.

Unfortunately.... (4.00 / 1)
....as I've said before, the same filth from the same group has been splashed on both NH Insider and Granite Grok...so while there has been the Necessary Token Condmenation on the RH site, the group continues to foment hatred on the more-widely read sites of the Right Wing - with no outrage expressed by the GOP there.

An entertaining A3P bit (0.00 / 0)
If you ever decide to visit the A3P site, here's one of the more entertaining bits, when they realize that they've accidentally given a Korean-American access to their forums:

http://www.american3p.org/forum/showthread.php?1360-Aznsensation-here

Insofar as anything related to this subject could be referred to as "entertaining", of course.

Equally troubling are the on-line comments left below the letter. (4.00 / 1)
One poster is particularly concerned about a new tax I have never heard of:

Barack Obama and his liberal, progressive buddies hae enacted the first law that taxes based ONLY on skin color.  And you're calling this Ryan guy racist?

There's a lot of beating up on this Mr. Murdough but where is the outrage that Reps. Shea-Porter and Hodes and Senator Shaheen voted for the first tax on only white people, because they are white??

(Sorry, I still can't do links but you know how to find the letter and page down.)

Anyone have any idea what THAT is about?  I don't remember having heard of a skin color tax.  And I can't remember having  paid one.  OMG, do I need to report myself to DRA and the IRS for not having filed my skin color report?

There are also opposing postings approving or bashing the Southern Poverty Law Center.

It would all be laughable except for the growing numbers of people right here in our state who actually believe this stuff.

We have our work cut out for us between now and November.

I'm guessing, the "Boehner Tax" (0.00 / 0)

Funny... (4.00 / 1)
While there may be legimtiate reasons to oppose the specifics of a tanning bed tax, to suggest it's a "race tax" is laughable.

I guess these white guys never saw the taxes levied on cosmetic products such as Dark & Lovely, Hair extrensions, or 12-hour hair treatments endured by the black community.

Or even more to the point, the state laws requiring that beauticians - including single moms doing their neighbor's kids' hair in their kitchens - have 'cosmetology' licenses in order to cornrow....even though one can earn a Comsetology Degree and pass the exam without ever having studied or worked on a single strand of African-American hair.

White racists should love this tax. (4.00 / 1)
It only taxes white people who think dark skin is better than light skin.

It's an issue that could bring together the American Cancer Society and the Klan, the nanny staters and the Christian Identity übernuts.

And isn't that what America's been looking for all along?

[ Parent ]
I've been told he has been in the State House before (4.00 / 1)
He is not the only racist to serve in the Legislature.

Are we forgetting all the comments made against a Martin Luther King Day holiday?

Talking It Out Is A Remedy (0.00 / 0)
That is quite true, Putney.  Some horrible things were said.  Those working for the bills, sponsoring them or speaking for them between 1979 and 1999 were threatened and attacked in various ways.  Governor Hugh Gallen, who was the first Governor to sign a proclamation formally supporting MLK Day in 1980, was heavily criticized.  I'm sure some people were less than complimentary of Governor Jeanne Shaheen who signed the final of the 11 bills in 1999.

It happens.  Whenever racism rears its ugly head, we need the discussion.  If it's true that each of us carries some kind of prejudice in our minds, it's also true that thinking it through and talking it out is a remedy.

[ Parent ]
The latest breaking news (0.00 / 0)
from NH Insider is that the GOP candidate is probably part of some kind of Democratic plot to make Rs look bad, but sadly there's no proof of it yet.

And then something else about how people shouldn't complain that they post the press releases from that guy's racist organization.  OK then.

I always forget that site exists, until every now and then it shows up in a Google alert accusing us of some Vast Left-Wing conspiracy.
