Update On That Republican Racist Legislative Candidate Dude

by: Rep. Jim Splaine

Tue Jul 06, 2010 at 14:56:52 PM EDT

I heard today from Shira Schoenberg, a reporter from The Concord Monitor -- she writes excellent political and other news items in that newspaper, by the way -- that the Republican Party finally has come out opposed to that dude I mentioned in a www.BlueHampshire.com Blogpost this past Sunday morning.  That post, titled "REPUBLICANS:  What The Hell Is This All About," detailed a letter to the editor that Ryan J. Murdough of Ashland had written to that newspaper entitled "We Must Preserve Our Racial Identity."  He's filed as a candidate for New Hampshire State Representative in the Republican Party primary.

The Republicans should be congratulated for finally saying something, although it took a while.  I hope the Republicans hit home their opposition to the positions of The American Third Position, which Mr. Murdough represents (WEBSITE, http://american3p.org/   Neither Democrats or Republicans need any votes from the far-confused who believe in the positions of that group.

Interestingly, until the Republican Party finally said something about it this morning, I just noted two responses.  I'm surprised it took 48+ hours for more to say something.

To his credit, on Monday former Republican U.S. Congressional candidate Grant Bosse wrote a post in RedHampshire.com commenting on this dude:

"Racist Whack-Job Running As A Republican"
Jim Splaine posts over at BH about a candidate I've never heard of running for State Rep. from Ashland, quoting a column in the Concord Monitor.

For far too long white Americans have been told that diversity is something beneficial to their existence. Statistics prove that the opposite is true. New Hampshire residents must seek to preserve their racial identity if we want future generations to have to possibility to live in such a great state.

While this idiot is registered as a Republican, he's from some group that claims to speak for white America. These crackpots don't speak for me. I'm not going to grace them by typing their names or providing links, but you can follow the trail through BH if you're really interested.

Rep. Splaine is right to call this guy out. And while I'm sure there will be overheated demands to denounce this racist moron that most Republicans have never heard of, we can most effectively counter this racist jerk by making sure he doesn't win the Republican nomination. There are five candidates for three seats in Grafton 8. Let's make sure this chucklehead isn't one of them."

Sadly, no Republican has commented on Grant's courageous post in that Blogsite even as of this Tuesday afternoon, so can we surmise from their silence that other Republicans accept this guy?

Then I open my E-Mail this morning and got a Facebook comment from Joe Kelly Levasseur, titled

Levasseur defends Granite Grok (surprise)

I watched the first twenty minutes of "The 2 Joes" to see if Levasseur would chime in. Naturally, he did not disappoint.

Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Briggs

by: Peter Sullivan

Sun Aug 30, 2009 at 22:03:24 PM EDT

In case you're wondering why so many people are taking offense at your association with Joe Kelly Levasseur, here's some background info.

"I don't think he (Joe Kelly Levasseur) represents the majority of the Republican Party when he speaks"
Toni Pappas, Republican, Hillsborough Commissioner

"He's acted like an idiot"
Robert Pariseau, Republican, former alderman

"I'm personally ashamed that his vile personal attacks have been associated with the city committee"
Victor Goulet, former chair, Manchester Republican City Committee

"Totally inappropriate"
State Senator Jeb Bradley

Then there's this little bon mot from the Union Leader, 4-10-2003:

Mayor Robert Baines said city Republican Party chairman Joe Kelly Levasseur screamed at him and his wife in downtown Manchester last night. Baines said he and his wife Maureen had finished a relaxing dinner at Picola Italia restaurant and were walking to their car when Levasseur opened the door of his restaurant and screamed at them.

"He should be embarrassed for himself, his business, his party, and everything else", Baines said. "He's disgusting".

Let's not forget the time he accused Rep. Jane Bealieau, one of the most decent and honest people in Manchester politics of "bribery" because she fought for city funding for a historic preservation project.

Ot the time he accused Lou D'Allesandro of cavorting with sex offenders, putting up a web site that featured Lou with devil horns.

Or his charming web site attacking Bob Baines that said "Wanted: Dead or Alive", and had a bullseye target.

You see, Mr. Briggs, your friend has a bit of a history in Manchester politics. Some of us have, in the past, made the mistake of treating him as someone worthy of respect. We learned the hard way that this is someone for whom the laws of decency do not apply. We have seen our family members attacked, our friends hassled, and our reputations dragged through the muck and the mire. If you want to play around with Joe Kelly, well, that's your right. Just don't complain to us when he inevitably turns on you at some point down the road.

An Open Letter To Will Infantine

by: Peter Sullivan

Sun May 31, 2009 at 19:48:54 PM EDT

Hon. Will Infantine
Chair
Manchester Republican City Committee
89 Windward Lane
Manchester, NH 03104

Dear Rep. Infantine,

This afternoon, I was told about a posting on the NH Insider web site. This post included a picture of me taken from a password-protected section of the NH Bar Association web site and a picture from a family gathering that was found on my sister's Facebook page.

In addition to dragging my non-political family members into the fray, this poster made several allegations that are clearly false. I represented Larry Murray in a minor traffic dispute several years ago; I have never considered him a personal friend, nor have I ever socialized with him in any manner.

I think we both know that this post came from Joe Kelly Levasseur and Keith Hirschmann. Now, I understand that you are friends with Joe and Keith, despite their long history of unacceptable behavior. I don't expect you to end that friendship. However, as the chair of the Manchester Republican City Committee, I am calling on you to, in no uncertain terms, denounce and repudiate the politics of personal destruction practiced by Levasseur and Hirschmann.

Over the last year and a half, I have endured verbal and written attacks on my wife, midnight crank calls from Levasseur's employees, and even a death threat. I suspect that if a local politician were to turn his fire on Christine or on your daughters, you would be far less accepting of their actions.

I await your prompt reply.

Threats: There Are Some Lines You Never Cross

by: Peter Sullivan

Sat Mar 14, 2009 at 11:21:57 AM EDT

We now know that Keith Hirschmann and Joe Kelly Levasseur think that making death threats are a legitimate form of political discussion.

Last Thanksgiving, a post appeared on NH Insider. In this message, someone calling himself "suncoastkid" offered to "save you the trouble of killing yourself", and described how he would run me over if I stood at the corner of Bridge and Pearl in downtown Manchester.

My office is located about 60 feet south of this intersection.

This message was, as you might imagine, quite unsettling. My wife and my parents were as rattled as I was, if not more so.

I asked the Manchester police to investigate this posting. This week, they informed me that it was Hirchmann, a former alderman and GOP state representative, who made the comment.

Joe Kelly is coming to visit Blue Hampshire

by: Peter Sullivan

Blue Hampshire is about to be graced by the presence of none other than renowned right wing loudmouth Joe Kelly levasseur. Earlier this afternoon, he sent me the following message:

Another right-wing fishwrap for Manchester

by: Peter Sullivan

Mon Nov 03, 2008 at 14:24:30 PM EST

Good lord. The Manchester Express is now using Joe Kelly Levasseur as its city hall reporter.

Naturally, his first column contains half-baked screeds against his usual list of political enemies (Ray Buckley, Betsi DeVries, and myself), as well as a "news" item about Red Wheeler's suit against Jim Hardy that fails to mention the fact that Joe is the attorney in the case.

Somewhere, William Loeb is smiling.

Hillsborough Sheriff: Leave It Blank!

by: Peter Sullivan

Wed Oct 29, 2008 at 22:11:32 PM EDT

While I regret to do so, I am asking my fellow Democrats to not vote for Red Wheeler for Hillsborough County Sheriff.

Red Wheeler is the candidate of right wing activist Joe Kelly Levasseur. Levasseur has been aiding Wheeler in filing a series of nuisance motions against the incumbent sheriff in an effort to draw attention to the campaign.

I learned the hard way that you can't dance with someone like Joe Kelly. He is as disreputable an individual you will find in Manchester politics, and that says a lot.

Levasseur has smeared Kathy Sullivan on numerous occasion, and attacked her family members as well. He was reprimanded for outrageous behavior while a Manchester alderman. He was the driving force behind the Ray Buckley video fiasco last year.

Mr. Wheeler's decision to align himself with Joe Kelly Levasseur disqualifies him as a serious choice for the county's top law enforcement position.
