Binnie Will Not Go Gently Into That Good Night

by: Dean Barker

Tue Aug 17, 2010 at 10:20:08 AM EDT

Well, this explains the new ad:
During the last year we have run a positive campaign only on the issues. Every commercial we've done, every speech I've given through August 16th has been positive to the issues or properly comparative on issues: jobs, spending, the economy - great challenges that need to be fixed.

In return, five of the last six state chairmen have written viciously negative attacks on me that were untrue. An outside group was brought in by my opponents to engage in negative advertising, which were found by the nationally-recognized and respected organization Factcheck.org to be distortions and lies.

The state party itself even reprinted and sent out the negative press release from the attack group that came into our state to hurt us.

To ask for candidates to be positive and not to recognize that some campaigns have been viciously negative for weeks is to blatantly close one's eyes to reality.

Doesn't Binnie know that the only one allowed to stage a coup on Sununu was Judd Gregg, when he cleverly installed Ayotte as the official unofficial nominee?

Binnie is a Republican - so how can he possibly be surprised at the way his party behaves?

Binnie misses it entirely, (0.00 / 1)

Sununu wrote that letter to Binnie, but included all R candidates so as not to embarrass Binnie.

Mr. Arrogance is reacting exactly as expected.

If turnout is decent and undeclareds (0.00 / 0)
tilt to a GOP ballot, because there is more action primarywise on that side, your Mr. Arrogance is going to be the nominee.

That was someone else's observation, but I believe it to be right.

And what does Binnie believe in? (0.00 / 1)

The Union Leader asked that question of Binnie on Aug. 8 because it like many, many voters in NH simply do not know what this candidate believes in given his conflicting positions and support over the years for causes and others who are at variance with what Binnie wants us to believe about him today.

Binnie says in his recent blog, "I am proud of my campaign, I am proud of what I believe in," Okay, then share with the voters exactly what you do believe in, as the UL has asked.

Information has been presented that Binnie is X. Binnie says he's Y. Straighten it all out, stop hiding your true positions, and your PR problems will be resolved.

as always, Frank (0.00 / 0)
we appreciate your CONCERN.

Misdiagnosis. (4.00 / 1)
Frank seems more of a strict constructionist Bender kind of guy, who (though pretty much out of place here) has chosen to openly attack his chosen nemesis, and not engage in the dishonest activity of which you suspect him.

Troll-rating seems inappropriate.  A polite suggestion that transparent intra-GOP sniping on a progressive site is unlikely to be an especially fruitful use of his time might be more seemly.

In fact, I do hereby make such a suggestion.

[ Parent ]
I didn't troll rate him (0.00 / 0)
so your suggestions might be better directed at the person who did.

I do believe him to be a concern troll, and have, since early in his tenure at BH. A look over his commenting history might prove illuminating.

[ Parent ]
Dual-purpose. (0.00 / 0)
I was mainly addressing your comment, but the troll rating seemed closely enough related to it to address it in the same post.

I had reviewed his commenting history, and it seemed to me to reveal a straight-up Jim Bender-type person with an axe to grind against Bill Binnie.  A concern troll would have taken much more of a "Wow, I sure hope Binnie wins the primary, because he'd be really weak in the general, and even if he wins he's pretty liberal and pro-choice; it'd be terrible if Bender won though, because he's a real conservative who'd definitely beat Hodes" rhetorical position.

In any case, frank, what are you doing posting this stuff here, where no one supports the guy you're bashing, and no one is about to support the guy you like, whoever he is?

Internal polls... (0.00 / 0)
...show Binnie Trailing Ayotte by 30 points.

It will be Hodes vs. Ayotte.

Don't understand the TRs here (0.00 / 0)
Listen, I don't agree with Frank, but isn't this ratings abuse?  I don't think he said anything that violates the rules of the site.
