Thank you Carol Shea-Porter

by: Dean Barker

Tue Nov 02, 2010 at 22:32:40 PM EDT

(I haven't heard word of a concession yet, but the split is obvious at this point with 45% reporting.)

Thank you, Rep. Shea-Porter.

My only regret of your years of service for the "rest of us" is that living in CD2, I never had the chance to vote for you.

I can count on one hand the number of national level politicians - of either party - that I truly admire and am inspired by.

And you are number one on that list, Congresswoman.

She deserved it (4.00 / 4)
I remember Election Night 2006 well.  Was so elated about Charlie's defeat that I didn't notice the real stunner until late in the evening.  Like most people, I underestimated Carol Shea-Porter.

She was a truly outstanding congresswoman. As I learned while phone banking and canvassing this past week in Manchester, the more people who know her true record -- on veterans, economic justice, and other issues -- the more people that supported her.  We just weren't able to communicate that record to enough people.

Carol Shea-Porter is a leader and a fighter.  I hope that she runs again after Giunta's mid-term indictment.

Carol will be back in office before we know it.

Such a class act (4.00 / 1)
The two results I feel the worst about are my congresswoman CSP and my state senator, Betsi DeVries.

There is no good way to lose, but she lost the best possible way. Thank you CSP.

NHDP statement (4.00 / 1)

Concord - New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement on Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter's loss this evening.

"Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter served the people of New Hampshire with extraordinary distinction and she ran a race to be proud of.  From the first day she was sworn into office she has held true to her convictions and been a strong and consistent fighter for the rest of us.

"Over the past four years, it has been an absolute pleasure to know that as a resident of Manchester, she was my voice in Congress."

Carol (0.00 / 0)
Carol gave a terrific and upbeat speech at the Frank Jones Center.

No one involved in Carol's campaigns is doing any head hanging.

Dean--you are so right. Carol emerged as a very special person in 2006. I was already close to her when she began her campaign.

The first day she spoke publicly I told her that I had "underestimated her"  ( how was I to know what she was capable of ???)  She did two events that day on four hours sleep and I just watched people react to her. After that she got better with every talk to the people of the first district--whether to 4 people or 40 or 400.

It was thrilling to watch.

The story isn't finished. Carol and her circle of supporters are too much of a family to just fade away.

But for the moment it's good to remind ourselves just how lucky we've been to have her in New Hampshire.

Very proud (0.00 / 0)
The two people I have been most proud to vote for, and whom I most expected to care for the interests of their constituents and to vote their conscience are Granny D and Carol Shea-Porter.  Few people, let alone politicians, have as much integrity as Congresswoman Shea-Porter, and while I'll miss having in her office, I'm sure it won't be long until she's able to serve the people of New Hampshire and the other 99% of us again.
