"2012 starts today."

So says Ray Buckley and he is correct.

Maybe this is why former Reagan speech writer, Peggy Noonan, felt compelled to put a hitch in Endorser In Chief Sarah Palin's giddy-up.

Conservatives talked a lot about Ronald Reagan this year, but they have to take him more to heart, because his example here is a guide. All this seemed lost last week on Sarah Palin, who called him, on Fox, "an actor." She was defending her form of political celebrity-reality show, "Dancing With the Stars," etc. This is how she did it: "Wasn't Ronald Reagan an actor? Wasn't he in 'Bedtime for Bonzo,' Bozo, something? Ronald Reagan was an actor."

Excuse me, but this was ignorant even for Mrs. Palin. ...
-snip

The point is not "He was a great man and you are a nincompoop," though that is true. The point is that Reagan's career is a guide, not only for the tea party but for all in politics. He brought his fully mature, fully seasoned self into politics with him. He wasn't in search of a life when he ran for office, and he wasn't in search of fame; he'd already lived a life, he was already well known, he'd accomplished things in the world.

Ouch. Can Kelly Ayotte can see that political bruise from her house? You bet'cha!

And so it begins.

Agreed re: nincompoop. (4.00 / 1)
If I tilt my head to the side, furrow my brow, and speak softly so I sound reasonable, can I have a column in the The Wall Street Journal too?

Probably not old enough, Doug (0.00 / 0)
but I could probably pull it off...;)

Republicans believe government is bad - then they get into office and prove it.

[ Parent ]
You're right about that. (4.00 / 1)
Sometimes, I feel like I should carry around a copy of the 26th Amendment to prove that my opinion is relevant.

newsflash (4.00 / 1)
being a tool isn't the way to impress me with your opinions, Douglas.

Neither is being young, or male, so it couldn't hurt. (4.00 / 2)
I kid, of course.

Well, I thought it was funny (4.00 / 3)
Then again, Susan thinks I'm a "terrorist", so my opinions might not matter much, either.

[ Parent ]
the only thing better than one tool (4.00 / 1)
is a whole set. Thanks DD!

Oh! Oh! (4.00 / 3)
Pick me. Pick me.  :vp~~~

Whack-a-mole, anyone?

[ Parent ]
Always a privilege, Susan (4.00 / 2)
I must make sure to get assigned to Conway in 2012.

[ Parent ]
I'm certain (4.00 / 1)
the locals will be incredibly impressed with your importance.

Hoping instead. . . (4.00 / 3)
That it's my phone banking skills that inspire.

Lighten up.

A better than average Political Standing, in general.

This stood out:

Will Ray Buckley run for re-election even after his beloved State Senate moved back to Republican dominance not seen in a half-century?

A better question: Who else is there to run against Buckley? Here's one idea: Why isn't there a draft Colin Van Ostern movement? Could he serve as chair and executive director at the same time?

Ya, it's uncomfortable, but if you don't mull this over, all the moves will be made before you know it.

Another point of Pindell's, the leadership slate is wiped clean, pretty much. There are two Dems standing, Lynch and Shaheen.

I'll mention this, Shaheen has longevity on her side. She has served longer and has a longer term in front of her.

Whack-a-mole, anyone?

I am curled up in the corner (0.00 / 0)
sucking my thumb and whimpering at the aggression on this thread. That's how I react to bad election results, with electile dysfunction. Its a political shitstorm regression disorder. I lost a decade after Nixon, and five years after Bush v Gore. The challenge is to stay engaged in a low info voter environment ruled by fear and manipulation.
