The Marriage Repeal Mandate That Isn't

by: Dean Barker

Tue Nov 09, 2010 at 06:18:53 AM EST

Kevin Smith, from the NHGOP's favorite soapbox:
Cornerstone President Kevin Smith said a gay marriage repeal and the re-enactment of a parental notification law for minors who seek abortions are now the top social priorities. He said "a clear majority of the voters are with us. They never wanted gay marriage in the first place."
A clear majority!
"Most people in the electorate don't want to see (action) on social issues they don't support." [Andy Smith] said recent polling showed 41 percent of Republicans either supported or didn't care about gay marriage - and 47 percent of Republicans said the issue had no impact on their lives one way or another.
Someone... I dunno, maybe a reporter like John DiStaso or something, could fact check the one Smith's assertions against the other Smith's data.

Although, when Kevin Smith's group Cornerstone put a picture of Governor Lynch next to a line-up of sex offenders in mailboxes across New Hampshire and called it "Introducing Team Lynch," all DiStaso could be stirred to write was "tough stuff."  So I'm not holding my breath.

Gov. Lynch,
I realize I am in the stands, while you are on the ice. It is the beginning of the 3rd and your team just gave up a two goal lead. It's now tied. And it seems your team is caught "watching the puck."

To pull this off, we need to rally. Now, we could count on one of our goons to drop her gloves and mix it up. That could do it. But you are the team captain. For you to have a go would really help the team find their legs.

This asshat Kevin Smith has been slashing at our goalie all night. He boarded you at the end of the second. We are lucky you aren't out with a concussion. If someone doesn't challenge this clown, face to face, it will only embolden this cheapshot artist.

Governor, it is up to you. Smith likes to come in from the top of the circle with his head down. He thinks he has the game winning goal in his stick. He is gonna go for. Be patient. Wait for it. But when he makes his moves, come in elbows high. Lay him out! And when he gets back up on his skates, makes him wish he had stayed down and waited for the trainer.

We know it's not like you to simply rely on brute force. But you are tenacious and scrappy, so that brutal edge is in you. Find it. And unleash its fury on this Claude Lemieux wannabe.

I can't fault your play, so far. And you can finish with pride, regardless of the outcome. But you are really the only one that can take Smith on. Everyone knows it would be justified.

We need you to do this. Game on.

Whack-a-mole, anyone?

I don't understand why I have to worry about my marital rights every legislative session.

Because the traditional arrangement giving the male (0.00 / 0)
dominion over the female and her off-spring is the template for how social strata should be organized.
Equality is anathema to people who need to be recognized as superior in order to compensate for a deepseated feeling of inferiority.
Where does the feeling of inferiority come from?  For many it may just be a consequence of a disconnect between the emotional and the cognitive centers, as a result of which much of their spontaneous behavior leaves them rejected and dejected.  So, they have to rely on brute force to connect.

I was just going to go with.. (0.00 / 0)
... Federal protections, or not allowing the majority to rule the rights of minorities... that sort of thing:)
