(My sis and I used to fight about Tuesday night TV. It was A-Team (me) vs Happy Days (her). We'll take any Happy Days we can get! - promoted by Mike Hoefer)
This is something I have not seen in a long, long time; Talking Points Memo daily averaging of polls shows, with respect to the President:
48.8%Approve 45.4%Disapprove +3.4Spread
And, with respect to the congressional generic ballot,
42.4%DEM 42.2%GOP +0.2Spread
I can't remember the last time the Democrats had a lead, no matter how slight, in the averaging of generic congressional polls.
All this medicare talk is having an impact, although Hoyer's comments today that he is open to means testing medicare was irritating. Medicare is a program that people have been paying into for years; it should not be turned into a welfare program where you have to produce assets and income lists to prove you are poor enough to qualify for the full benefit. Instead of means testing Social Security and Medicare, balance the books and cut the deficit by doing the right thing and end the tax breaks for the top 1%.
Disclosure: This doesn't affect me; all the plans I have seen won't start until people born at least a year after me.
