From POTUS

Statement from Senator Shaheen:

"This compromise achieves four critical things - it avoids a default that could have devastated our economy; it gives businesses the certainty they need to grow and hire by resolving this issue until 2013; it makes significant reductions in our long-term deficit and debt; and it protects Social Security and Medicare benefits. Although this is not the plan I would have designed, and while I remain concerned about the level of cuts still possible to programs that are important to New Hampshire families and businesses, this plan is a compromise and I will support it."

I hope he's right (4.00 / 2)
n/t

Is there anything in this plan about revenue? (0.00 / 0)
I know that's a hot button issue with the radical right, but I really hope we aren't just cutting for the hell of it with nothing in return.

Then again, I live in a dream world at times.

"We start working to beat these guys right now." -Jed Bartlet

No and Yes. The Bush tax cuts (0.00 / 0)
still sunset in December 2012.  They are not part of this deal, which means a revenue gain of $3.6 trillion over ten years, dwarfing this deal in scope.

The Pentagon is the big loser in this deal.  And States.

In the immediate aftermath of Since the start of the financial crisis, the Fed/Treasury lent, spent, or guaranteed $28 $29 trillion to save the banking system.

Oh, don't worry your pretty little head (4.00 / 1)
about the Pentagon. The Teabaglicans will make sure those cuts never take place.

The biggest losers in all of this are the unemployed and increasing numbers of working poor and their children. There will be even more suffering as a result of this horrible bill.

The second biggest loser is the Democratic Party, who meekly caved in after months of not saying boo while the GOP continued to call this a crisis.

Rep. Cleaver is correct. This is a sugar-coated Satan sandwich, served to the meek Democrats by Teabaggers who then kicked them hard in the ass, and then took a big dump on the side of their plate - and walked off laughing at them.
