Hey folks. Some of you may have heard that former Congressman Marty Meehan is Chancellor of UMass Lowell. The University has recently created the Center for Public Opinion.
The Center for Public Opinion seeks to further UMass Lowell's academic and strategic objectives through cross-disciplinary research related to political and public opinion trends and behaviors, as well as through distinctive, revealing public opinion polling that is conducted with integrity and methodological rigor. Results of such research will be incorporated into curricula to enhance student learning.
The Center provides students, faculty and visiting scholars access to public opinion research that employs time-tested probability-based techniques while incorporating the latest empirical evidence about survey innovations and best practices. Subjects of study are multi-disciplinary, covering political, social, economic and cultural issues.
Today, the Center, in partnership with The Boston Herald, have released their very first poll.
LOWELL, Mass. - Elizabeth Warren is in a virtual dead heat against U.S. Sen. Scott Brown and holds a commanding lead over other Democratic challengers in the Senate race, according to a UMass Lowell-Boston Herald poll released today.
This blog is visited by many discerning readers, with keen eyes for picking apart poll data. I'd love to hear some feedback on the methodology of this poll.
