They Know Something We Don't Know

First Read's take on NH politics:
US Senate race

The likely Democratic nominee is Representative Paul Hodes, while the GOP front-runner is ex-state Attorney General Kelly Ayotte. The biggest GOP hiccup to success in the senate race is going to the primary. Ayotte is a moderate in the mold of a Susan Collins or Olympia Snowe but that may not pass muster in a GOP primary here.

It's good the folks reporting from DC know Kelly Ayotte is a "moderate". From what I've read, there is no way to tell. I can't remember one position she's taken on anything aside from being against the public option in health care reform. And that's a bit foggy. A couple of her actions as AG indicate she does not support choice or marriage equality. Does that pass for moderate, these days?

The rest of the item reads like a GOP press release, so I won't quote it here.

Those guys are really desperate for a horse race.

Moderate (0.00 / 0)
Moderate (when applied to a member of either party) means that in addition to infringing upon the individual rights that are typically infringed upon by their party, they also are interested in infringing upon individual rights typically only destroyed by the other party.

Who do they talk to? (4.00 / 1)
She also supports states rights, is anti-choice, and thinks the second amendment keeps us safe in our homes.

Moderate?  I think not!

Mind boggling. (0.00 / 0)
Ayotte is a moderate in the mold of a Susan Collins or Olympia Snowe

Who fed them this hooey?

She needs to take charge of her campaign (0.00 / 0)
and start letting people know where she stands on issues. She goes to these events and seems like the snob of the party, comes out and delivers a speech that is not up to par with the other speakers, but leaves the room full of supporters because her name is Kelly Ayotte and she can beat Paul Hodes.

She needs to let the handlers go, reach out to the people of New Hampshire, and tell them where she stands.

A new definition of a "moderate" Republican (4.00 / 1)
Ten years ago, a "moderate" Republican was one who was pro-choice on abortion and in sync with Gingrich-DeLay on every other social/economic issue. (See: Zeliff, C. Bass)

By today's media standards, even that meager standard has been discarded.  A "moderate" Republican can now oppose a woman's right to choose, so long as he/she doesn't vocally advocate burning gay people and immigrants at the stake.

In New Hampshire, the REAL moderate Republicans -- leaders like Gil Winant, Robert Bass, Walter Peterson, and Ralph Hough -- died or began supporting Democrats long ago.

It's possible that Ayotte (4.00 / 1)
won't use immigrants as a handy prop. But she has already tried to ingratiate herself with the homophobes, signing a Republican AG letter against California's gay marriage law.

Hmm (4.00 / 1)
I guess any Republican who doesn't bring a gun to a teabag rally is a moderate these days.
