Vice President Joe Biden was on "Meet the Press" on Sunday, and made clear his support for equality. He was quoted as saying "I am absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women, and heterosexual men and women marrying another are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties. And quite frankly, I don't see much of a distinction-- beyond that."
First was can you imagine -- just imagine -- what Vice President Sarah Palin would have said? And all with the nod of her #1 cheerleader, President John McCain? Thank you, God -- you work in mysterious ways in helping us see clearly enough to reject those who say you are on their side. We know better, and you have given us the ability to think so that we know better.
My second thought was, wow how the most important social matter of our time -- equality -- has evolved over the years. It's mighty hard to stop the American ideal of "with liberty and justice for all."
My third thought: President Barack Obama made a great choice in naming Joe Biden for his running mate in 2008. They're making a great team for 2012.
