The only thing that matters is.... (0.00 / 0)

... this Spitzer scandal is not as important as we make it all to be. The question now is, "who wiretapped Gov. Spitzer?" I'd like to know who and why were Vermont Quaker groups being spied and wiretapped two years ago? What about other peace & Justice groups throughout America? I think the bigger issue should be focused on the Bush Administration breaking our own laws as opposed to Spitzer being connected to a prostitution ring. This story has no direct impact to our lives. The violation of our civil rights through illegal wiretapping is more important and one of the major reasons why we should be supporting Betty Hall's impeachment efforts.

BTW Jack, how's it going?

Jedi tutor- Clintonista Version (4.00 / 2)

via electopundit on kos

Added value blogging:

Tom Watson, a rare blogger who backs Clinton, has a funny riff on the predicament of his particular minority:

To be a Clinton blogger in the progressive blogosphere is to be hated, shunned, passed without notice in the street. We sit home on Friday nights, cursing at Chris Matthews and being censored by Al Giordano for commenting too often in a field of swaying Obama supplication. We're not welcome at all the best dKos parties - if we show up, we're cursed with the universal epithet of those who challenge the Obama hegemony: "troll," they call us. Sometimes "f'ing troll." We're Rovian in our embrace of the monster, closet Bush backers and much worse - Lieberman types! Oh, the pain. The pure pain. I can't stand it. Makes me want to quit, embrace that messianic goodness, and stand down - for the sake of the party, of course - from any pursuit of a Clinton presidency.

and

Nancy Pelosi tells Boston TV that a Clinton-Obama or Obama-Clinton ticket is "impossible."

"I think that the Clinton administration has fairly ruled that out by proclaiming that Senator McCain would be a better Commander in Chief than Obama. I think that either way is impossible," she said.

McCain makes a distinction between good lobbyists and bad

Pelley: You point your finger at other senators and claim that there is culture of corruption on Capitol Hill. But you take money from lobbyists who have business before your committee, as other senators do. So how is it that you call the system corrupt?

McCain: Well, one of the reasons why I call the system corrupt is because we have members of Congress who are in jail, who are former members of Congress. But it's not the individuals, it's the system we have today. I believe that I serve with honorable men and women. And I believe the people who bring their case to government, the overwhelming majority of them are honorable people.

Pelley: The lobbyists?

McCain:Retirees have a lobbyist, firemen have a lobbyist. Your business has a lot of lobbyists, a lot of lobbyists.

So, when McCain blasts the role of lobbyists in the political process, he's only talking about the bad lobbyists (the ones he doesn't like); not the good lobbyists (the ones who give him money and run his campaign operation).

FYI (4.00 / 1)
I posted a diary with the same video (though I couldn't figure out how to circumvent soapblox's hatred of Comedy Central embeds, and I'd love to know how Jack did it), having set it up and prepared it last night before the video became available and before I noticed Jack had already done it.  I've since deleted that diary.

Want to learn the ways of the youtube, do you? (4.00 / 2)
I removed these lines from the embed code.

allowScriptAccess='always'
allownetworking='external'

I figured it out by trial and error. No brains, just stubborn.

Now bring me and Bresler a.......SHRUBBERY!

I know how to embed a YouTube video, and now, like Peter Petrelli, I have absorbed your ability to embed Comedy Central videos. (0.00 / 0)
Sorry, I've been watching way too much Heroes recently.

I love this video. He tears the big state argument to shreds. (0.00 / 0)
Meanwhile, scientific analysis proves the Colbert Bump.  It turns out, according to the LA Times, Democratic members of Congress (but not Republican MCs) who appear on The Colbert Report receive 44% more money than those who do not in the month after their appearance.  Turns out Pelosi and Emanuel were wrong to tell their colleagues not to appear on the Report. ( http://www.latimes.com/news/op... )

Even though as a rule Colbert doesn't help Republicans, Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee actually did much better in the Presidential race after they went on Colbert.  Plus, every member of Congress who was profiled in Better Know a District before the '06 election was re-elected, including Robert Wexler (D-FL) who was lambasted by the media for playing along with a joke by saying things he was prompted to, which was taken out of the satirical context.  Colbert came out of character (which he rarely does) and defended Wexler from these unfounded attacks on his show.  Also, Wexler is a good guy.

Yes, I hate polls, call me a hypocrite if you must, but as long as they're around we can't ignore them.
