A New Service From Hillary Clinton: Reverend Ratings

by: elwood

Tue Mar 25, 2008 at 18:21:47 PM EDT

Are you a New Hampshire Episcopalian, worried about church doctrine and openly gay Bishop Gene Robinson?

Are you a New Hampshire Catholic, wondering whether Bishop McCormack's involvement in the Cardinal Law cover-ups should make you re-think your Sunday plans?

Help is on the way.

Hillary Clinton is now providing free religious consultation.

"[Rev. Wright] would not have been my pastor," Clinton said. "You don't choose your family, but you choose what church you want to attend."
elwood :: A New Service From Hillary Clinton: Reverend Ratings
She offers this guidance in an interview with the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Interestingly, this is the very heart of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy: the paper is owned by Richard Mellon-Scaife.

Many political figures would be too timid to offer this guidance. They would hide behind language like "separation of church and state" or "no religious test." But not Hillary.

It takes a village busybody to tell you where to go to church.

Hillary is reporting for duty.

No doubt we can look forward to the Guide Book to Politically Acceptable Pastors.

As someone said today, 'desperate times call for desperate measures'. I guess in some quarters losing gracefully is viewed as only for losers.

"But, in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope." Si se puede. Yes we can.

Honestly, Hillary. (0.00 / 0)
You'd think after the way she's been perceived in recent weeks that someone in her inner circle would be telling her to tone down the venom, maybe try to look like a good guy.  Guess now.

*Guess not. (0.00 / 0)
I really need to proofread these things.

"situational awarness" (0.00 / 0)
That's a concept I learned about recently.  Hillary doesn't have it--i.e. she doesn't know what's going on around her.  Perhaps she's just too focused on herself.

Bishop McCormack stuff.. I had people protest and press outside my baccalaureate liturgy when i was graduating high school cause he was doing the service.

But it's working... (0.00 / 0)
Heard an interview on NPR the other day with "voters" from PA, and someone said that he wasn't voting for Obama because he didn't distance himself from the "homophobic Wright".  I was like whoaaaaaa... I've not watched every clip of Reverend Wrights, but I don't recall him saying anything about gay people... But clearly, Hillary's outreach on this issue to the underinformed is working, why else would she keep it up?

On the side,
I think it was Willie Brown the other day on Talk of the Nation who said he had been to Obama's church (Trinity?) and heard Rev. Wright speak and that he found him to be an amazing and inspiring preacher.  Neal Conan sounded completely astounded that Brown was ALSO not throwing him under the bus.  Anyone else hear it?

I know I listen to WAY TOO MUCH npr, but I am a member...

Feeling hopeful since 2004...

Okay, okay, I'll come clean. (0.00 / 0)
I refuse to vote for Hillary because she hates Mormons.  She's never said it, and I've actually never heard her say anything about Mormons or Utah or anything, but she just gives off that vibe.

(joking, people)

An easier case to make (0.00 / 0)
would be that she hates Democrats.

(joking less)

That may have been the kind of person who (0.00 / 0)
in decades past was put off by the fact that Dukakis' sister was a thespian.  Perhaps he thinks a homophobe is someone who hates white people.  You know, like homogenized milk is white.

a homo-trope ?

Given Hillary's ties to the far religious right....you'd think she'd be smart enough to sit this discussion out.

She's just keeping Obama in the Media High Beams (0.00 / 0)
Not a bad tactic though. Purely political. You don't need to say much. Just point at his religious baggage once in a while and you can hear the PA polls falling slowly on Obama.

Nothing really vile or nasty. Why does everyone try to make everything that she says appear wrong somehow? She is pointing out a weakness in her opponent. She isn't implying he is a Pedafile or a closet Republican. But I have heard Hillary called a Republican by Democratic Pundits.

Just relax and put your Peril-Sensitive Sunglasses on. Enjoy the race.

Simply saying,
Wynter

Clinton's ties (0.00 / 0)
to Dominionists scare me a lot more than anything Obama's minister has had to say.

Eight years of fundie rule have been more than enough for me.
