Convention Watch

by: JimC

I thought a convention watch thread (both meanings) would be useful.

I see that Mark Warner is the keynote. I think that means Tim Kaine is out as VP, unless the convention theme is "Yes, Virginia!"

I also saw an item about a veterans' theme, which I am sure at least one, maybe two hampsters know more about than I do.

As to a convention watching gathering, if there is a BH one, I won't make it there. But I have a really good excuse -- thanks to my local town committee, I am hosting one. (I'd offer to live blog it, but it won't be terribly exciting, and besides the TV is not near the computer.)

So I guess the question is, where will you be when history is made?

So rude of me (0.00 / 0)
Everyone here is welcome, of course. But my place is closer to the Rhode Island border than the New Hampshire border.

Wonder if Sununu's fired now.

Colin Powell to speak in Denver (0.00 / 0)
Former national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski tells the Huffington Post that he "expects" Gen. Colin Powell to endorse Barack Obama for president.

Late Wednesday afternoon, the political world skipped a heartbeat when Fox pundit and eminent neoconservative Bill Kristol predicted that former Gen. Colin Powell would endorse Barack Obama, and even potentially speak at the Democratic National Convention.

In response to an emailed question, Brzezinski agreed with Kristol about the endorsement, writing simply: "I sort of expect he [Powell] will."

Kristol, who I will spare you, expects Powell to explain his endorsement on Wednesday the 27th.

The giant finds its gait.

I disagree (0.00 / 0)
Zbig and Kristol aren't exactly Powell insiders -- they hate each other's guts.  Wouldn't place to much value in their predictions.

I don't think he speaks at the convention, although Obama should continue to cultivate his endorsement.

Skipped a heartbeat? (0.00 / 0)
Please. The political world shrugged. Kristol is probably trying to prevent it by bringing it up.

I'm all for Powell endorsing Obama. I would rather he didn't speak at the convention -- lots of Democrats, only so many slots -- but I can live with it. That's me, though; some people would get really mad, and they'd have a point.
